I had thoose on my 00 ls. They look pretty stock besides the "halo". The previouse owner installed them. To me they are on the baseline of rice.
I have just the clear lenses, since i did a TSX retrofit, the stock headlight lines would disturb the light output. So i swapped the OEM lenses for these clear ones, and i have had nothing but compliments on how clean it looks. Not to mention, they are crystal clear, so the light output is amazing.
Search for threads created by me, i have many pics of the retrofit...
Not rice at all if you do it the right way...
If you keep the housings (back part) with the halos and clear lenses, it would look like ****, but with an OEM housing, and a crazy retrofit, its the best thing you can do...

hmmm I wonder if I could fit my OEM retrofitted headlight guts into those housings? My driver side housing has cracked tabs from a car backing into the front of mine. Plus some new clear lenses would be nice, too.
*edit wait, the high beams are clear, too. That's a no-go. The stock lenses' prismatic pattern on the high beams actually spreads the light out farther, which is what you need when high beams are in use.

I havent used my high beams since i got the retro...i only use them occasionally to signal another driver to take the rightaway or something of that sort...
Besides that, my TSXs do the job lol...but yea the high beam lens is really good in spreading out the light, in order to make it more visible when they are on. When i turn my high beams on, all i see if two dots against the wall, not very good to see distances, just good for a short warning or hello lol

man I use my high beams all the time on dark back roads. With HID projectors, the brighter they are and the sharper the cutoff, the darker everything else appears (unlit areas). That makes high beams even more important to be able to see far and wide to make sure a deer or something doesn't jump in front of you
Of course I love having 4 high beams (bi-xenon projectors + stock high beams), I just with my low beams were better.

i dont have these problems around where i live lol...its strictly city around here, no woods. If i drove around wooded areas, i would definitely try to get my high beams to work, since that is the only way to really avoid something bad from happening. Wandering deer, skunks etc lol.

Since you aren't opposed to retrofits, how about a nice set of HID driving lamps in the high beam housing?
Pick a "free form" one (so you don't need a lens) that has a nice spread pattern (the FF1000 HID come to mind).

Of course, I don't know what will fit, or not fit, in the OEM housing space. Some of those might be larger in diameter than the stock opening.

HID's for high beams are impractical. The "flash-to-pass" function of high beams can take a toll on the ballasts. And then it takes a few seconds for them to warm up to full brightness, and when you're on roads where you need them, you're usually constantly turning them off and back on as other cars come at you and pass by.
