Default Question on swap, newbie guy, perhaps a cashflow comming in...

I might be getting a good amount of cash flow soon, so i have a few questions...
1)I would like to do a swap for a h22a, now are there different models, like h22a1/2 or something? Also, i see on some pics that theres is this thing that says DOHC, what exactly is it? and Can it come with the h22a?

2)My 93ex accord is automatic, when im done with the swap, i want it to be a stick, i bet i will have some problems, probably alot, but, after i do this, will i lose anything, like maybe my speedometer wont be accurate, or my rpms, and because its being changed so drastically, will everything shift right?

3)I Keep hearing from a bunch of friends that when you do a whole swap, that the car just isnt good, something is missing, it doesnt do something like its supposed to, has anyone done a complete swap to a stick with no problems, or am i likely to have problems that will last me a lifetime?

Thanks guys, sorry, im a complete newbie, oyea what exactly is DOHC?
thanks again.

1.)
H22A4 Honda Prelude Vtec 97-01
H22A1 Honda Prelude VTEC 1994-1996
H23A4 Honda Type SirT/Accord Wagon (JDM)
F20B- Accord Euro Type R
sorry if not accurate...dont know much cept the one i want...hahaha h22a4
2.) shouldnt be any problems. shifting wont be a problem it'd be rediculous to do the swap if any problems occured with the synchros

DOHC = Double Over Head Cam.
All H22's are DOHC. Your engine is SOHC. Lets see if you can figure out what SOHC means...

In addition to the ones previously listed, there is an H22A7 and a JDM H22A.

If your friends are as knowledgable as you, you have nothing to worry about.

So what is a better swtich for a 4th gen, i want speed, and lots of it, and something reliable. Is a f20b faster than any h22/h23?

Also from doing so many changes, basically the swap and making it a stick, how much will it run for completely everything?

I dont have the tools to do it myself, so im not sure if I might have a shop do it, and be there when they have it installed
... unless somone knows/lives anyone in santa clarita/valencia/canyon country...l.a... with a shop.

forget the F20b

You want an H22a1 or the JDM H22a, if u can spring for it, you can get an H22a4 or the JDM H22a Type S version and then do an OBD1 conversion but it depends on your budget of course, all 97+ H22a's are open deck as well, something to consider.

What is faster, the h22a4 of the JDM h22a Type S, why do a OBD1 conversion? I know OBD2 exists, will i lose performance? and what does having it OPEN DECK mean?
Sorry for all the questions...

OBD2 is much more restrictive as to what you can do as opposed to OBD1. If you can legally do it, stay OBD1.

Open deck means that you have floating cylinder sleeves. the water passages are open at the top of the block. you can see it in this pic. ignore the stuff about a knock sensor, and yes, I know its a b-series but the concept is the same. look right around the pistons, and you will see that there is an open space between the piston sleeve and the rest of the bock.

on a closed deck block that would be filled in. domestic V8s for example use a closed deck block.

edit:
we seem to have a red x, heres the link

JDM H22A Type S is 220ps, and OBDII. OBD conversion can get pricey...just ask Dave.

The type-s is going to have a higher compression, which is how it's producing more power than the regular h22's. Nothing THAT special.
