Do you need a cage?

Find a place that makes NRHA/SFI approved cages and tell them what you want.

You can also buy tubing and go to town yourself if you know what you are doing when it comes to laying a cage out and welding. There is a ton of info if you have the time and tools.

If you are adding a cage I see no reason why you should keep the back seats cages aren't just something you slap in and go with for no good reason.

Let's start with why you need a cage.

That is the real question.

Autopower makes a bolt in cage. True it is not designed to use the stock rear trim but it can always be modified to fit. I know they design them to fit within the b-pillar/a-pillar and roof trim as well as fit with the headliner still installed. All you have left to do is trim your rear interior panels to fit the down tubes.

If your putting a cage in strictly for looks....your gay go get some monkey barz!

why would i need a cage just for looks? i know that you need a cage if u hit 9.99 or better at the track here at cf raceway. im in the low 11's right now with my b16, and im working on a fully built d16 and hopefully getting into 10's. i have some chasis reinforcements but it aint enough so thats why i need a cage to make my self or whoever is with me secure

Custom is your best way to go! With the price of metal so high right now they are a bit pricey but well worth the investment.

find out what type of cage u need ull have to gut your car to nuttin then have it towed or drive it to a race shop that fabs up race cages.just a hint places that makes circletrack cars like late models and tube frame chassis do really good work, thats if u cant or dont want to do it all yourself.then rebuild your intr round the cage.

You will need at least a 6pt cage, if you decide to go faster than 10.0 you will need a fully certified 10pt. If you don't know what it takes to get certified, don't put the cage in yourself. Take it to someone who knows what they're doing, please.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe going 9.99 you need an NHRA license and the chassis MUST be certified.

11.49 you need at least a 6pt, welded and it will also need to pass certification. However you don't need to have it certified, but it will need to be built according to spec for it to pass any kind of tech.

Universal kits are eh, much better to have someone who knows what they're doing custom bend the piping and everything. You won't pass squat with a bolton kit, and showing up to the dragstrip with one will certainly promote LOLs in your general direction.

I have a list of things to not cheap out on, and caging/seatbelts/helmet/etc is at the very top.
