Default B18B into '91 CRX swap

Hi, I'm new to the forums and usually in the Subaru scene but I'm helping one of my friends swap the motor/trans out of his Integra into his 1990 CRX Si and I was told this is a good forum to check out for info about this swap.

Here's the skinny on the cars:

Donor car: 1996 Acura Integra GS/SE B18B 5spd
Project car: 1990 Honda CRX Si

So far we have both of the motors/trans out of both cars and are at the ecu/wiring/vacuum/fuel delivery swap stage and I'm curious as to what would be the best way to go about it. Does everything have to be swapped? Is some of it plug 'n play? Also if anyone has links, in this forum or others, that show where someone has already done this would be helpful. I'm pretty mechanically inclined but I want to make this as easy and as clean of a swap as possible.

As far as parts go, I've got both cars complete in the garage so all parts needed are available. We have the right motor mounts for the B18 to go into the CRX.

*My friend told me he got a lot of flak about this swap when he was checking out other sites and that the only responses he got were about how he should get a GSR motor or a B16, blah, blah. on and on. He's not trying to build a race car and is on a tight budget so he's working with what he has available, which is two cars he has owned for a long time. Thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide on this swap.

use the 91 crx engine harness on the b18 motor and everything will plug in, get 90-91 integra distributor and 90-91 integra computer and everything will plug in no wiring needed

CRX Jimmy, he would prefer to use the ECU from his '96 Integra and not mess with having to buy another distributor. Is it going to be a mess trying to do that?

Since he lives in CA, if you want it to be legal and pass the BAR, you will have to convert to OBD2. And yes it sucks.

You could get harness conversions to convert to OBD1 then to OBD2.

I'm not from cali so forgive my ignorance on the matter.

since the b18b ranges from 94-01 i don't see why you couldn't just run it as obd1 and tell anyone that asks that it's a 94 or 95 engine.

ninja edit: i think in cali you just cant install an older motor into a newer chassis, but you obviously can do a newer engine in an older car. so even if he ran it as obd1 and said that its an obd1 engine, its still newer then what he has.

In CA you can swap in a newer engine but you MUST use all the smog/electrical equipment including the ECU of the new engine. The BAR guys are smart they have many rescources and just telling them its out of a 94-95 will not cut it. All they have to do is punch in the engine serial # on the block and they can tell you more than you know. A buddy of mine found out his engine was not the original engine and it was out of a car that was junked just by them running the #'s.
