Expert Input Needed...!i!i!i!
SEARCHED. I have a 97 LS with mostly stock B18B1...
-I just purchased a 2000 GSR motor. The guy i purchased the engine from said he ran a small shot of nitrous through the it twice. But he also said that he drove it pretty hard.It only has 100k miles on it.But to be on the safe side id like to replace the necesseties before the swap. What would NEED to be replaced? Im thinking Rings,Oil Pump,Water Pump,Head Gasket, and Timing Belt. What about valve seals? Or is it necessary to COMPLETELY REBUILD it?
-Another question is... I have an afterarket intake manifold/Fuel Rail/Header blah. Will this all bolt on the GSR head?

its going to come down to however much you budget for you rebuild. If you have the time and the motor you could set your goals pretty high. Speaking of goals what are yours, if it's just a DD then you might not have to rebuild at all. Just to let you know that without a set of cams in the gsr your im will cause you to lose more than gain, if it bolts up. I'm not 100% but i don't think that it does. get back to us with what it is you are expecting from your build.
So without cams, u lose power if u have upgrade IM? And ur LS IM won't fit the gsr head. I tried that's a while back hahah. But ur headers will fit with slight modification. Yeah, what is your goal for your car?
My Goals... Well i went from a Fully Built B20vtec CRX to the LS teg and im not satisfied with the power.Thought i would be happy cause i sold the rex because i wanted something newer and nicer. But It wont cut it. So i found a wreckd 2000 Si with a GSR swap for a donor and purchased it. My car is my daily but not when it comes to winter. So shes goin in the garage and the motor is being rebuilt and upgraded. Not looking for amazing numbers, but a reliable car and quality parts for spice.
HERES THE CAR BTW...

you are completely wrong! I wish you would stop posting.
You will not lose power with an aftermarket Intake manifold if you don't have cams. The only thing you got right was that an LS manifold wont fit a GSR. The header may or may not fit depending on which car they were designed for. The fuel rail will fit fine.

mistik, weren't you banned?????
to the op, do a compression test, and a leak down check first to find out as much as possiable on what to replace. those two test well help to see if you need new rings or valve seals and such. other then that, do the usual tune up. wires, cap, rotor, timing belt, water pump, plugs, stuff like that.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but if you have an aftermarket IM on a GSR, you're taking out the dual runner IM and swapping in a single runner, and you take away the IAB. So wont it run like **** without cams and a good tune? BTW, what's with the plaid???? Otherwise car looks sick, but your bumper looks like golf pants.

I just tell people they will lose power with an aftermarket manni on a gsr because i really don't feel like typing everything out. If you really want to know what's going on you should probably do some research. The post above is correct, the gsr cam is designed to have the dul runner IM. adding an aftermarket IM won't necessairly make you lose power but shifts the power band to the right. This will give you a small amount of top end gain but a whole lot more of midrange loss. This has been covered time and time again. Stock IM with stock cams on a gsr best bang for your buck

Thanks guys.Im planning on Converting to OBD1.Ive got the jumper harness and im sourcing a OBD1 p72. As with the aftermarket IM... ill prolly just stick to the stock one if its that much of an effect.

with a good tune and an aftermarket manifold you will gain power and not really lose much down low
but with an aftermarket manifold and stock ecu you will lose power pretty much everywhere and your vtec will be too low
