96-98 Dx-> obd1 conversion->z6 head/intake= confusion.
Alright, I don't want to sound like an idiot who has never done any obd conversions or wiring, but that's what this is going to sound like.
I have a 96 DX that needs to be converted to obd1, P28. I'm doing that to run a z6 head and intake manifold on the car.
I have already installed the head/intake with all obd1 sensors. I repinned the obd1 dist. with the ob2a y7 dist. plug so it can plug into the stock harness.
I also took the IACV wires and wired those to run the obd1 2 wire IAC. Which includes not using the orange wire and then moving the blue/black over 2 spots on the ecu connector. (I forget the pin-outs at the moment) If there is something wrong with that, please enlighten me.
After doing all of that including wiring up vtec etc. The car had a hunting idle from about 8-1100 rpms and vtec was not activating. I assumed bad IAC. It also had a very bad miss/hesitation, and I would consider it undriveable.
I took the y7 throttle body, put that onto the z6 intake, put the z6 throttle wheel and spring on and rewired the y7 IAC in, still same problem, and no vtec.
After all of this I put the y7 intake/throttle body back on and redid the wiring back to factory and car idles and runs fine.
Another thing is I didn't have the 240cc injectors, all I had was the 190cc? y7 injectors. Would this make the car run that poorly on that ecu / injector combo?
If anyone has any info on what I need to do, or opinions, I'm open to anything at this point. I'm also unable to check for any codes, I ground the service connector pinout and get nothing.
I have done a lot of searching and have come up with nothing on going obd1 with the z6 intake and sensors, most everyone goes with the y8. I think that my next step would be get a complete y8 intake, and 96-98 engine harness, and another obd2a-obd1 jumper to see what the outcome is.
Sorry for the long read, thanks in advance

I'm running y7/z6 but I'm still obd2. At on point a few years ago I tried putting the y7 injectors in and it ran like ***, didnt even bother taking it for a spin. Very rough idle and heavy miss trying to rev. I think injectors would be a good place to start even if you have a bud that doesnt mind you borrowing theirs to test.
yea the smaller injectors would definately cause it to run like ***. the p28 is designed for 240cc injectors, like virtually every other civic and integra. the p28 doesnt have the fuel curves or correct injector pulse for a 190cc injector.
