Default D-series 4-1 Header

The car we just bought has a jdm d15b and a 4-1 header with no identifying marks on it, it appears to be pretty old, its not rusted, but it is sure weathered and certainly not new looking. Anyone have an idea who could have made it?

OBX,Tsudo,Megan,Some random brand on eBay...there's no telling really.

Not to be rude, but what does it matter, really?

I was asking because a friend wants to buy it and he asked me who made it and i couldnt give him an answer, so I thought i would ask a simple question. When you buy something, brand matters.

Headers for the d series dont really matter, the cheap ones off ebay are copies of expensive/ brand name headers.

FYI - i know this asian kid who sells those no name headers and he told me the DC headers are actually crap taiwanese ones aith ths dc badge installed.just like the rest. and the reason they start to corrode/rust is because DC sports buts that badge on the header which for some reasons causes them to rust faster

that does sound like bs

I have a ebay header,
had a chikara header
and have held a dc header, the insides and the flanges of the dc are perfect, unlike the others.

Best thing u can do is evaluate it yourself, are welds good..rust...bends....and make a price of that....

that header is a some no name brand from ebay..probably one of the names listd earlier in this thread..but to make things clear..there is a difference from the cheap ones and the good ones..im not gonna say expensive cause compaired to b-series and k-series parts its cheaper..brands like DC sports, greddy, and bisimoto header are way diffrent from the cheap ones. for 1 the runners are better shaped and bent..thier bigger in diameter on the inside of each runner with bigger collectors..the flange fit perfect if not near perfect..and what ever finish the metal has lasts for a long time..

since my Authentic dc header is damaged on my sohc d16z6 (big dent from rock) i bought a cheap ebay one.(not spending $400 on a sohc header like the guy b4 me) ill take it to the track and run it a bunch of times. we'll see what kind of times i get. if they improved at all or if they got worse.

Btw. i am running a 5zigen pro racer catback and 5zigen muffler.

I have been wondering if it makes a diffrent. If you get a ebay header or name brand one. For a sohc because imma built my d16z6 and i want to buy a header. But i cant find any really good ones.

I have a Sohc d16z6. 5 spd. lowered 2 inches, just intake, and the exhaust thats listed above ( 5zigen catback + dc header) i ran a 16.0 , i just put a 4-2-1 ebay header and it feels the same to me. no noticeable difference in performance. i would really like to get a y8 intake manifold, and ill be in the 15.9's There is no point on spending Big $$ on a sohc header just to gain a tenth or two in acceleration. if even that.. may be a diff story if you built it. but its not worth building sohc's anyway.

"ebay more than likely made your header" MORON-BOY- Yeah you're right. thats why the welds are perfect... OR, the header has been on the car for 6 years.. Daily driven. And Winter driven in Canada.. that is most likely the culprit of the rust on the DC Header.

Yeah, you're right, it does! the ceramic colour and everything.. I did see a company selling dc replica headers online before.. they were called DC-S .. but for some reason i dont see them for sale anymore.. maybe they got sued

Had to take the stock manifold off my motor this weekend to change a head gasket. I took a good look at it and it looks to me like the stock manifold isn't a particularly easy item to improve on without sacrificing low end torque. Although you could build something lighter by replacing cast iron with tubes, it's already a pretty efficient looking tri-Y design. I have thought about doing some kind of "eBay speed parts dyno shootout" just to see what sort of results the cheap headers get you though.
