Default 240HP & 6-Speed

So I hear the new Accords will be fitted with an updated 240HP 3.0L V6, mated to a 6-Speed manual tranny. Sounds a similar to the Acura CL Coupe.

Think it'll be a hotrod?

it's an accord....the only reason they probably upped the power was cuz they made it a good 500 pounds heavier and needed the extra power to haul it's lanky *** around....so no!...it won't be a hotrod!

I dont think SCC was right about the whole 3.0 liter thing. I'm thinking 3.2.

3.0 iVtec is the rumor isnt it? and a base motor is the 2.4 iVtec from the CRV.

it won't be ivtec...atleast that's my guess

just a modified J30A1 still 3.0...the torque isn't there to be any bigger than a 3.0

They only needed a 2.0 to make 240 hp in the S2000.

Nissan lame 3.5 can make 280HP. Not a lot but honda havent made any 3.5 to surpass 240 hp. Not to mention the torque on the Nissam 3.5 is still higher then honda 3.5

please dont trash on Nissan

the nissan motor is a dohc engine with variable valve timing

honda has one of those...3.2L...290 hp....get the picture?

are u saying that honda 3.2 make 290 hp so that their 3.5 eventually can make more? I have not doubt that Honda can do that in the future, but currently, honda most powerful 3.5 v6 is only making 240 while nissan make 280hp.
Is just that Nissan isnt lame manufacture as someone said. Their cars make good torque too.
3.5 infinity QX4 260 pounds
3.5 honda pilot 242 pounds
3.5 acura MDX 245 pounds
3.5 lame altima still 246 pounds.

Nissan has some good cars (350Z, Skyline) but their other cars are cammed for torque. Honda tends to get cars with a well balanced cam for the application. Also the bore/stroke ratios are needed to make the comparison. Not every 3.5L V6 is the same.

I know, even the 350 Z has different bore/stroke then the maxima 3.5.
I just dont like people to trash other car manucfacture so i wanted to bring some quality facts to prove them wrong. Anyway i knwo there are always some of those stupid *** holes.

all of honda's 3.5L engines are SOHC...the nissan motors you speak of are dohc...its a diff situation...

thats why the nsx motor is the only one to use as comparison...3.2L DOHC VTEC...290 hp...thats all there is to it...

Actually the VQ35DE engine in the 350Z and Maxima has the same bore/stroke, just different levels of tune. Now Nissan just needs to make a VQ35VETT, for those in the know.

How did u know that they have the same bore/stroke?
I was doing some comparison on the acura web site, nissan maxima has 3500cc and 3.76 x 3.21 while the 350Z is 3498 and 3.66 x 2.89. Maybe the data in their is not accurate, but i would like to see if this is true or not. It seems that nissan has more then one 3.5 v6 motor.

So u mean is not fair to compare a sohc to a Dohc? only the 3.2 nsx engine should be compared. Why is that? I know that dohc should have an advantage over the sohc, but it doesnt mean that different type of motor cant be compared.
Honda 3.5 (oddysey, pilot, mdx) are very comparable to (maxima, altima, path, QX)
Dont be so sensitive, i wasnt trying to put honda down at all. Honda has it advantage so does nissan.

I am talking about the engine in the new Maxima, Altima, and the 350Z. They all have the same block pretty much, but different compression pistions. I read a lot of SCC btw too.
