OT: Misconception... correction!!! It's that time again
Ok... so I'm going WAY out on a limb here... in a thread that is similar to ones from years gone by.
I'm sick and tired of some BS that keeps going on around here, and since we, the people of this forum (no, not the OG's, regulars or anything like that) make it was it is... I want this out on the table...
1. Fact... The ITR was built and designed to be a showroom race car.
2. Fact... it's still the best handling FWD platform in the world.
3. Opinion... The ITR ONLY belongs on a road course (this, obviously is up to the owner of said car.
MISCONCEPTION among recent threads/members...
While most of the "older" crowds enjoy themselves taking their cars on a road course, I'm tired of hearing "newer" folks interpretation of that being your caR sucks unless it's not on track.
From what I gather, and the feeling of most I talk to... is the new generation has more limited funds, and thus can't afford track time. Does this mean you, or your car sucks? NO... It's the folks that have been on track, trying to SHARE THAT EXPERIENCE WITH OTHERS. Why it get's taken by some that they or their car is any less because it's not on a track is obsurd.
Just because a post is made "take that thing on track" does NOT equate to "you and your car suck because your not" The ITR forum is a COMMUNITY, unlike the other forums here on HT. We all mostly know one another OFF THE BOARDS, most others don't.
I guess, without a damn novel as I'm getting ready to leave work (and HT for that matter behind for the day) my point is this...
Older (read it as experienced, OG or whatever you'd like to interpret it as) generally tracks, and talks about on track experience and most times encourage others to do the same. Quit thinking, just because your NOT out there, your any less, or that people comments make you/your car any less. I'm so sick of hearing "well if it's not on track, it's not good enough for you guys" STOP!!!
/bitching, but I'm so SO tired of hearing this... I figured I'd put my neck/post count/sign up date/percentage on the line to bring this up... PUBLICALLY.
Feel free to discuss, bitch, lock or whatever with this thread... Just STOP the damn whining about being on or off the track, needing to be on track to fit in or anything of the likes.
to everyone... and yes including Doucher...

I think the misconception is that everything is sooooo fast on the track.... The beginner class is slow! No big deal, we were all there at some point. I have a friend that thinks he'll be the slowest out there....he very well might be, but he wont get **** from anyone (maybe me
) about it. Its not a race, you can safely drive around the track at your own pace and not worry about your car.

Jim, my point is being missed here...
Some people don't jump out of perfectly good air planes.
Some won't go swimming.
Some dont' track their ITR's.
The whole point of this thread was to clearify that just because your NOT on track, doesn't make you, or your car any less, and that the "regulars" as I've seen it called dont' hate on "newbs" because their not on track, they are mearly trying to share the experience with others.

I "think" see where you are going Dave and I dont see it as being that big of a problem. I see it as being perpetuated by 3 people. 2 own ITRs and one who just sold theirs. Let the disgruntled be disgruntled if they want to be.

I do... as it continually happens. it's been happening a lot, and not just recently.
We were all there, in those very shoes at one point. Be it newbs not knowing about the car, and starting a new thread every day... or be it track virgins scared to pop our cherry. We all were in those very shoes...
I guess, I never expected this thread to go anywhere... it's just a "view" if you will that I've noticed lately. While I, personally enjoy being on a road course vs. drag strip or show parking lot... to each his own.

On serious note, id love for those who do not post for fear of not being accepted in this thread. Tell us why you read the forum, but don't post. Doostur says there are plenty of these people here. PLEASE speak up if you fall into this category.
Ok, I read what your saying Dave.....
But you shouldnt have to tell people this..... If they cant take it, theyre parents shouldnt let them on the intraweb.

yeah, no one here is trying to keep anyone out. I think we're all (mostly) pretty happy welcome anyone new, we're just sick of seeing the same old stuff over and over again.

I also agree with this. It's simple, if you can't take it, then that's your problem. But dont' take it personally. It's not personal unless you make it personal.

Please do... I created this thread... FOR A REASON. Now is the time to speak up, if dont' constructively.
And for you few up top... taking this as a joke... at the moment your half the problem (don't take that home seriously... but your not helping in this topic at all for the most part)

Jim, I whole heartedly agree... however it's the internet, and "tone of voice" cannot be interpreted by all via the web.
And people (everyone) while we are at it... STOP POSTING BS IN THE FS/WTB sticky, the OFFICIAL PICTURE THREADS and the FAQ. Your cluttering that crap up!

Jim, that was a generalization... not directed towards anyone in particular and has been edited to reflect that.
Was just another bothersome thing I have noticed in this forum recently.
Ok... I'm out of here, and need a cold
Please, all that read this... take it seriously and speak up. If you see something you don't like... mention it!

I am addressing those reading right now who fall into the category that i addressed in my post above:
PLEASE feel free to speak up knowing that we do not intend on bashing your replies. We would love to hear from those who own an ITR but don't feel comfortable posting bc they are intimidated by either one person in specific or multiple users here in our community.
TIA

Well since joining I have been able to see and learn what has been done over the years.
Most of this stuff has been done and its in the Archives, new people just need to search. Most of my questions have been answered through search.
Usually I send a PM to ask question like I have done in the past to Ried, GK, KY and others.

I agree with everyone on this thread!
I can see all peoples sides of this debate, i can also see why some people are pissed about the itr forum.
From my standpoint I am only trying to help the forum and get more users out at track days or meetings.
show cars or track cars or drag cars --- i don't care.
But, i do have a problem with
a) people doing one thing and saying another
b)talking crap when they can't back it up -- or will not show to back it up
c)same cars hardparked with no changes - i don't care if it is parked one day in front of a local food store and then parked at your house the next.
d)"cost co" cages that showcars have that arn't even safe to drive the car on the street and do not meet "track" standards for FIA or NASA/SCCA regulations. IE stupid 'jdm crap that doesn't belong close to an ITR or any serious honda/acura.

Post up people. I don't own an ITR, never have. When I first posted in this forum I had a worthless attitude, got flamed to hell, and was even temporarily banned by Reid. I just wanted a badass street car. Then I saw an Expo video. Then I went to Expo 4 and have been to everyone since.
Do what you want with your car.
Do post on here. It seems like a tight knit group, but the only way you'll realize that is crap is to post and come to events.
Do have a good attitude.
Do make fun of Dave B.
Don't fake it.
Don't have a crap attitude.
Don't **** of George Knighton.
Don't be afraid to post in fear of being belittled.
-Chris, who just remembered how long I was stuck with the jackass avatar after getting into it with Reid.
