Default 89 Civic DX sedan, adding intermintent wipers and cruise control

I'm wondering if anyone has added intermintent wipers or cruise control?

For the wipers, can I just get a LX stalk that has intermintent already available, or is the more to it?

Any one have a link to a cheap aftermarket solution?

For cruise control, most of the aftermarket add-on's say "not for Honda". Anyone use one regardless?

I wanna get started on these two so my winter beater is ready for the snow...

Here's a guy who did it to his EF:

F that. That looks way too involved, and the parts are probably more then I want to spend.

I already have to buy a cluster with a tach, and a passenger side mirror.

Now, about intermittent wipers - I'm looking at building something like this:

for the intermittent wipers i believe there is also a small black box behind the dash that you have to change. now that you brought up the topic about adding cruise control it kind of makes me want to attempt it. the car i got my b18b from had cruise control so i ganked the unit not knowing if i'd ever be able to use or sell it. luckily on this engine the cruise unit and cable connect directly to the throttle body so i wouldn't have to run it into the car and connect it to the gas pedal. i just need to find a pinout for the cc unit to see if theres any way i can wire it up and ditch the box in the car altogether lol. probably not but i'll see if i can figure that out.

i imagine the contrul unit under the hood would have to have a speedo input wire so that it knows when your speed has decreased and when to increase throttle to maintain a set speed, or vice versa if speed decreases so it will know when to let off on the throttle. i also imagine there may be a 12v signal wire that tells the box when to set the current speed at the time as the one it needs to maintain. if these wires are read by the box in the car and not the one under the hood well then this won't work anyway lol.

Cruise will swap over just fine. Swap the pedal assembly - don't worry about the accelerator pedal as it's own issue; it all comes as one unit. I wouldn't bother trying to re-engineer the one pedal when the entire assembly swaps over with like 5 bolts.

I went from an '89 DX Auto 4dr (no cruise) to 5 speed from a '91 LX - everything bolts in just fine.

Wiring isn't even hard AT ALL - I think it's 13 wires total. Seriously easy stuff - and well worth it I might add!!!!

I think the hardest part for me was drilling the hole in the firewall for the cruise control actuator since my '89 didn't have the plug for it. Even a low profile right angle drill was hard to get into that spot! And then making the notches so when you turned the cable it locked into place. It was the only PITA of the whole project.

Can an 89-91 Civic LX (cruise, chassis ED) pedal assembly go into a 92-95 Civic (no cruise, chassis EG)?

And with less hassle than taking the pedal assembly from a 92-95 Civic w/cruise and moving it to a 92-95 w/o cruise?</TD></TR></TABLE>

I've never tried it - but the EG assemblies are hydraulic, and I *think* the mounting points are different. It's probably NOT a bolt-in affair. Why would you want to try to do that anyway?

I don't think the two generations of cars are cross-compatible as far as the pedals go. There is no hassle going EG - EG, regardless of if there is cruise or not.

Why are you talking about EG's? Even if the case we're talking about is on the EG, you don't have to grind or drill anything out.

The ENTIRE pedal assembly comes out.

It seems to me you are stuck on the accelerator pedal as its own factor - think beyond the accelerator. You pull the ENTIRE (clutch, brake, gas) out as one unit.

Aren't you trying to put this into an EF?

For the EF - it's VERY easy.

I really don't understand why you are going to great lengths to rig something up when the 100% OEM Factory option is so readily (and easily) available to you.

I don't mean to come across as harsh - I just don't understand your logic behind all this.

Mitchell on-demand is terrible - If you're looking for a specific diagram, PM me and I'll see if I can find it in my EG service manual.

For some reason, I was thinking you were the OP (and I couldn't understand why we were speaking of EG's) - Don't know why. I apologize.

For the EG, you can just swap over the pedal assemblies. Grab the actuator, the brain, the misc switches and wire it up. Again, the system is only like 13 wires total; it's not real complicated.

If Mitchell doesn't give you what you need - i'll scan everything in the factory service manual pertaining to the CC system on the EG if you want to shoot me a PM.
