help
A cheap-o puller will work fine. Sometimes a few light taps with a hammer and manual pulling will free the pulley.
But have you made plans for freeing the pulley bolt? This is far harder than getting the pulley off the shaft. The pulley bolt can be very tight indeed. I think it's due to the super fine thread used on this "special bolt" and so greater galling, especially given the extreme conditions (thermal changes and mechanical forces) under which the bolt operates. Many others and I have estimated torques far in excess of 300 ft-lbs. Impact guns are not always effective.
I use the pulley holding tool shown at http://honda.lioness.googlepag...tools for my two Civics, along with a five foot pipe. It is worth checking the prices of already-built tools, though, as the site notes. If you can get one for $25, then I'd say it's worth it. The homemade tool costs close to that these days, not counting labor.

i used a 2 foot pipe extension on my ratchet. you just need to keep the pulley from turning. on my car there are threaded holes in the flywheel that you can access. put a couple bolts in and wedge a bar in there to keep it from turning. no special tools required
