warped slotted rotors?
well i bought some brembo slotted and cross drilled rotors, all the way around, and one of them is warped and its really annoying and ugly soundind, so i went to some brake shops around the city seeing if they could sand them or whatever its called, and they said no because the slotted and cross drilled part of them will wreck the sanding machine thing, so is there any hope for me? or do i just gotta buy a new one? or anyway i could do it myself
Borrow a set of aggressive brake pads from someone. Bed them to your "warped" rotors. See if the issue goes away. And when I say bed them, I mean follow a race pad bedding procedure, including heating to the point of being able to smell them.
If you have uneven pad deposits on the rotor, you can sometimes use a different pad to scrub it off.
I've done this to 2 cars that had "warped" rotors. In both cases, the owner of each car was told that the rotors were "warped" and needed to be turned. Both had previously had the rotors turned, only to have the issue return. Both have told me the issue has not returned since the aggressive bedding using my pads. (I have a set of Hawk HPS pads I use for track days sitting on a shelf.)
The 3rd car I tried this on only had the issue go away for 2 months after attempting to re-bed his existing pads (I don't have an extra set of pads for that car).
None of these cars were mine. I have never had brake issues. (thankfully. knock on wood.)
YMMV.
(Of course, the smart thing to do is to simply go buy normal blank rotors.)
