Default 95 civic si coupe stock, what to do?

Ok, well i thaught i would just ask. Its a 95 civic si coupe, 1.6 v-tech, automatic (wish it was a manual). What would be the first thing or possibly the cheapest thing that will make the car more responsive/faster.

And has anyone done a head gasket on this car? I think i might have to eventually do one. Hopping not, crossing fingers. I was just curious as how bad of a job it could be.

Thanks

if you do the work yourself it wont be bad if you know what your doing.
better off just swapping in a motor that is a standard and work from there.

How much of a job is it to convert from a automatic to a manual?

to my knowledge, unless there has been something revealed over the past couple months or so, there's no such thing as an si coupe.. if you wanna keep the D, check into what it would take to put in a manual.. as far as making it faster, some will say B swap, some will say turbo the stock motor, but either way, i believe everyone is going to say to get rid of the auto..

The automatics suck pretty bad. I use to drive one, converted it to manual and will never go back. the Swap wasn't too hard, but getting the pedal assembly out and in was a real bitch.

yes i will deffinetly vouge for that. i helped a buddy of mine do that swap. b/c the shop wanted to charge him $700. but i have been supprized by a automatic that had some kick to it. but a conversion to a standard is better once u get ur shift points down.

interesting, i did not know that. So how exactly does the auto suck. In terms of power or in terms or reliability? I just baught the car 5 hours ago. $1000, 248,000km, a/c great body. questionable head gasket, (found after we got it home) i thaught it sounded like an ok price. not looking for a high performance car jsut something that works and gets me around, and can have fun in.
