hey will a m24a from a d16a year 92 will it work on my 93 sol si with a d16z6 and a m24a tranny?

will a 1995 jdm d15b m24a tranny work on my 93 sol si with a d16z6 and a m24a

i know its manual, but the tranny went out and i need to know which one will work, or is it just a matter of being a m24a tranny and doesnt matter what it came off of?

 

What the heck? Where are you getting those numbers from?

Anyways, all D series trannies are interchangable whether it be auto or manual.

 

M24As are automatic trannys, found in '92 - '94 civics and del sols (for anyone who thinks the years were a typo '95s used an A24A) '92 - '00 D-series manual transmission are all interchangeable, '92 - '95 D-series automatic transmissions are interchangeable, all '96 - '00 regular automatic transmissions are interchangeable, i don't know about '96 - '00 CVTs.

 

you said that 95 uses an a24a and then i belive i understand you state that 92-95 use a m24a, so does the 95 have either m24a or a24a, or should i not get a 1995 tranny at all?

 

The M24A is IMO a better transmission, every A24A I ever saw was junk, but i haven't seen that many of either, so it might just be a fluke. I just don't get the line " know its manual, but the tranny went out" If its a manual don't go trying to swap an automatic in there, it just doesn't work like that, going the other way is pretty easy, but the automatic requires some wiring and cutting and welding.

No, its an automatic, so is the M24A, thats why everyone is confused.

M24A -&gt; automatic transmission found in '92 - '94 civics
A24A -&gt; automatic transmission found in '95 civics

I couldn't tell you exactly what is different between them per say, only that one is newer than the other, they are both interchangeable though, and the earlier M24A is IMO a better transmission.

What exactly are you running now? 4 speed automatic or 5 speed manual?

ok, thank you very much, yes the bacon tendercrisp is good, but the spicy tendercrisp mops the floor! and while i gotcha, can i run a symptom of the tranny by you to ask if you have an opinion of what is wrong, or a known issue?

 

The sig actually is actually a line taken straight from a canadain BK commercial, i'm hardly ever get the burger, but that line struck my kinda funny so I used it as my sig. And you can ask me about the transmission, but I wont neccessarily be able to tell you anything, I'm strictly a manual tranny guy myself, just about every honda I ever worked on that had an automatic in it we swapped out in favor of a manual. But if its slipping, or shifting bad and its not the linkage just replace the tranny, they can't be worth much now, try to find one used locally, junkyards probably still want good money, but if you can get one in a private sale it shouldn't cost much.

 

well my plan is to replace it unless someone knows of a common issue with these, and my problem is when its cold and cold ambient temp, on the first start, only occasionally, the tranny gets stuck in first and wont upshift into second, and there is a loud pronounced whine, and then after a few minutes it will shift, and once it does, its silent and works fine all day long untill it cool of again, usually waits a couple days, and when it does shift it doesnt until you stop again then once you take off, in first its quiet,a nd it shifts normally.

 

I can't say i've ever seen that before, i've seen some A24As that upshifted far to late and some that upshifted too early, thats about it, I don't recall seeing one slip, and every M24A i've seen worked fine. But as I said earlier my sample group is pretty small so I wouldn't base to much of my expirences.

 

Hate to bring up a dead topic, but the search sometimes help, with that said i have a 91 2wd wagon i'm rebuilding, i just got a d16a jdm vtec with auto trans still attached. my question is will this trans bolt up with stock mount? or should i just use a d15b auto trans which i also have?
