Default no start after engine swap

97 civic ex 1.6 automatic. yanked the old motor. bought a 98 1.6. saw the numbers were slightly different on the fuel rail so i swapped the old one onto the new motor just to be sure. everything is hooked back up correctly and i had no left over harness connections. it will crank and crank all day and doesn't even try to start. i have gas in it, fuel to the rail, just seems like the injectors aren't firing for some reason. i sprayed starting fluid into the throttle body and it will start and barely run on that but it won't pull fuel at all it seems.

and wether this is related or not i don't know but when i turn the key to on or am starting it there is a wierd clicking noise coming from the glove box area. i thought it was a blend door but at the same time the d4 light is blinking real fast and the engine light is blinking real fast. both slow and then stop after about 10-12 seconds. both lights blink at the same rate as the clicking noise.

any suggestions as to what to look for?

That clicking noise is prolly coming from your ecu. Did you swap just the head and block? Or was it the whole motor with intake manifold and all>?

i did an entire motor swap. all i changed between the two was the alternator, fuel rail and injectors, throttle body etc.

Is the ground at the thermostat housing good?
Recheck all of your grounds..
One to the transmission.. the valve cover, Battery to chassis.. thermostat housing..
