don't fake the funk man, take the type r badges off your car, you just look silly, you have a nice car and then those silly badges trying to pretend your something your not
and the person who said somthing about the valve cover, its supposed to be a spoon sports valve cover, and on another note why pay all that money for a valve cover that some japanese guy painted out back of spoon in japan and then put it in a spoon bag and laughed as he sold it to this guy for 3 times what he bought it for

I beg to differ about the TypeR badges. If you rockin the typeR badges you better be rockin the TypeR motor. the TypeR and TypeS are both the same chassis just different motors plus all the other goodies in the TypeR.

it doesnt matter how much type r stuff you put on your car, it will never be a type r, its still a rsx-s
thats no different then putting ford badges on a mazda, no matter how much ford parts you put on your 626 it will never be a contour
and your wrong, the dc5 type r is just like the dc2 type r, they both have chassis stiffening and differences from standard integra's and rsx's, there not the same car with just a different motor and wheels

the DC5 type R and the DC5 type S are both the same chassis hence DC5 <== Chassis number. The motor and chassis is what differentiates a vehicle. Your VIN even identifies it as a DC5 chassis.

I bet this dude got nothing but love on clubrsx.
With that said, welcome to honda-tech!
I happen to agree though...it'll never be a real Type R and it is no different than a 95 Integra LS throwing some DC2 ITR parts on his car and calling it a Type R. It'll never be a real Type R and it makes the owner look like a poser.

IMO, if they have the same chassis i think there is kind of an exception to be honest. Just like converting a base into a typeS, would you still call it a base or a type S if someone was to fully change everything into typeS spec? Just because it wasn't manufactured as an original typeS does not mean it can not be a typeS. It all begins at the assembly line and starts with the same chassis. The only difference (using the same chassis) between a true DC5 TypeR and a converted DC5 TypeR would be a stamp from the manufacturer. That's just like the military, the only difference between an Officer and an Enlisted is a Degree. I guess everyone has their different views on things.
Now if you were to take some other chassis (say DA) and put in parts from a completely different chassis, say DC2 typeR, and then call it a typeR then i'd have to agree.

thats just it though even though the vin says dc5 doesnt make it the same chassis
the gsr and the type r dc's are both labeled dc2 in the vin number, but there are many many differences in the chassis between the two, just like the dc5 integra's the type r has chassis upgrades from the base and type s, there not the same car
and yes if you took a base rsx and put a bunch of type s parts on it, it will not be a type s, it will always be a base model, when you run the vin it will come up as a base model
you cant change what something is just by putting a different badge on it

you two both give convincing points..
But seriously anyone know where to get that gauge cluster, its bothering me when i search for something and cant find it.

You are lookin at the vin stamp or the manufacture honda stamp. That i understand, but it's only a stamp to label it an "Official" whatever it is but if you break it down to a technical stand point of view, the chassis (or the skeleton aka the frame) is the same. A skeleton is a skeleton. A DC5 skeleton is a DC5 and a DC2 skeleton is a DC2 skeleton whether it's a TypeR, TypeS, Type L, M, N, O, P. The chassis does not change. When you start adding different suspension, motors, P/s, A/c etc.. that's where the Type whatever labeling comes into play.
I'm not encouriging everyone go out and put a typeR badge and think you are a typeR on your car but I am simply just stating a different point of view. Now if i was to have a k20a into an EK coupe, i would not call it a TypeR by any means.

the chassis it self is different, the dc2 r has thicker shock towers, thicker floor bracing, many, theres diffrences in the chassis it self, a type r is not a ls with a different motor and suspension, the chassis is totally different and built from the ground up as a type r , they dont just crank out integra's on the line and give some ls motors and some type r motors, type r's arent even assembled in the same plant as standard integra's
i see your logic, but its just not true

i wasn't stating they are made in the same plant but they use the same chassis and add "goodies" to it to form their different models. I honestly don't believe they would change the chassis on 1 model because it's the "Type" whatever version. From a companies point of view, that would be spending extra money. Yeah they make oodles of cash but the less money they have to spend, without cutting reliability, the more money they can make. Changing 1 chassis because it's a top line model, would cost them more money then sticking with that 1 chassis and then adding different "goodies" to it to form different models. Everything is about marketing and that's where it's all at.

This engineering frame may have derivatives, giving rise to more than one body style for a particular car model. For example, the same car model can be offered as a four-door sedan, a two-door coupe, a station wagon, or even as a folding-roof convertible, all derived from the same engineering body frame. An example of this is the BMW 3-series.
Also, the same car model can be offered with different mechanical internals, such as a choice of several engine sizes, automatic or manual transmissions, different suspension, braking or steering systems, etc., all of these options considered fairly interchangeable on that specific body frame. It is common for any specific car model to carry additional badges or letterings to announce the mechanical option(s) incorporated on it.</TD></TR></TABLE>

that site does make sense for standard cars, ford focus, chevy malibu, yes there the same car though out just with different motors and wheels and stuff
but honda, and the type r models are completely different, and that doesn't apply here, the differences are only between type r models and the lower models, there are many specific chassis reinforcements welded, incorporated into the uni body it self that makes the type r a different chassis then a ls, no matter how many type r parts you bolt onto a ls it will never be a type r, cant be registered a type r
i finnaly found this picture honda released, yes two of these things can be bolted on, but everything else is part of the unidbody and can not be added, shows the chassis reinforcments done by honda to the type r that at its core makes it different then other integra's, not to mention everything else thats done to the car

Still, the car in question is far from a full ITR conversion. Therefore, I don't see how you can put the badges on because you have some interior and exterior ITR bits and pieces.
Also, if you're into muscle cars, a car that left the factory in a certain trim is that trim for life, as dictated by the VIN. So even though a 69 Camaro RS is a 100% full SS conversion, it will always be labeled as a RS converted to SS specs (unless the owner is shady).

who cares? It is his car... obviously it isn't a type R but he likes the stickers, big deal?
You could just say "nice car, cept for the stickers"

Well the original poster is not a fully converted ITR and i understand both substantial arguements. I guess tho in the end it's all on how the person looks at it and also it's still not a full 100% ITR tho i did have a good point to certain aspect.

I did say nice car accept for the ITR badges with no ITR motor, tho...
besides i was bringing up a good point.

At this point, this is nothing more than a 'look at me' thread, and there is a picture sticky for that kind of thing.
Still, it'll never be a Type R anymore than a Chevette will ever be a Corvette, regardless of what kind of decals that it has.
