How to: Pull old alarm out.
I know most of you will say you cannot tell me how to do this because you dont know what kind of alarm/set up i have. I was just wondering if there was a step by step procedure for pulling out an old very basic alarm system. Brain is right below steering column, and alarm no longer works. It is serving no purpose and cluttering my engine bay with more wires. I know i cant just start pulling wires through firewall, im sure there some type of organized "right" way to do this. Thanks for any advice.
easiest way is to cut all wires to the alarm brain and cap them off.
if your alarm has a start kill on it, connect the starter wire back up.
only wires that should be in your engine bay is siren, hood pin and tach.
theres not much that could clutter your engine bay since 95% of the wires should be under your dash

Yeah most of the wires are under the dash. Siren wires are in the engine bay along with hood pin. I didnt really mean engine bay clean up but just totally getting rid of the wires that i dont need. What exacly do you mean by "cap off" the wires. I want all alarm wires totally out of my car.
is you have the wire diagram for your car, it should tell you whice wire is going where
- dismount the alarm brain.
- trace the wires to see where they are going.
- snip them off
- use electric tape to cover any exposed wire
remeber to reconnect the starter wire up

Find alarm brain, unplug all the plugs from the brain, cut any wire-ties holding the alarm wiring in place, remove all the "unconnected leads first, [LED, valet/program switch, off-board impact sensor or other sensors].
Starting with one plug trace the alarm wire to where it is connected to the cars wiring and disconnect it there, do not leave any alarm wiring in the car, once you have cut/disconnected the alarm wire, repair the cars wire if needed and wrap exposed wire with electrical tape, a wire-tie around the tape on the wire will prevent the tape from coming off.
Do the same for the rest of the alarm wires.
It is best to do them one at a time and repair and tape the stock wire before moving on to the next wire, that way you will not forget to tape off an exposed wire.
OMT, don't forget to disconnect the batt. neg.(-) terminal before starting.
