Default turbo lsvtec guys I need your input

Im currently in the process of building a turbo lsvtec, now heres the question...Im running a gt35r with the oil feed for the turbo coming off the pressure sensor port, I also have a sandwich adapter with 1 port in/out for my oil thermostat/cooler. I know I probaly wont achieve enough oil flow for the vtec solenoid if I "T" off of the turbo feed....so what other options are there? I'm sure I could "T" off after the cooler, but I'm afraid I could starve the rest of the engine and spin a bearing. I am running a restrictor on the turbo, but will that be enough flow to engage vtec? My only other idea is to get the fitting from Z10 that screws into the oil pump and run the turbo feed from that. Whats your guy's opinions. Heres the fitting from z10 ps dont tell me to search, cause I have and everyone else is just using a sandwich adapter w/ no oil cooler so that isnt going to work for me

Just tee it off the oil pressure port. You'll have to use two tees... first one right off the sender, one end to the sensor and the other to a feed to another T. From the second T feed the back of the head and the turbo. Make sure you mount the second T on the firewall to take the weight off the block/sender.

^^^thats a problem cause I have read several posts of people that couldn't get their vtec to engage because there wasnt enough flow/psi at the solenoid, and I sure as hell dont want to starve a $1300 turbo of oil. Is anyone using this adapter?

run a -4 feed line from the stock pressure port beside the oil filter into a oil manifold that is mounted on the firewall. then feed the turbo and vtec solenoid from there using -3 lines.

thats how i run mine and there are no issues. although i was thinking of using a oil sandwich adapter that feeds filtered oil to the manifold rather than unfiltered oil from the pressure port.

ive used the double TT method plenty of times with success.

about that Z10 fitting, it will allow you to feed your head/turbo NON filtered oil. where as tapping it from the oem oil pressure sensor, or using the Golden Eagle Vtec sandwich adapter, will feed filtered oil.

have you ever seen a DSM ? they run a goodridge oil filter before the feed to the turbo.

plus i have always questioned filtered oil vs nonfilter oil locations on the block.

to the OP: why do you NEED an oil cooler ?

I guess i could always try the double T and see if it works for me, theres just so much miss info on here its hard to know what to believe.

Im running the cooler because oil starts to break down past the 180F mark and although it is not a daily driver I will be taking it out on nice hot summer days and flogging the **** out of it. plus it gives me a little peace of mind on a fairly large investment that I wont be getting any returns on besides the big stupid grin of course

i wouldn't miss info, i would different opinions to do one job.

also you need to get rid of that oil cooler. the purpose of oil is to cool the motor (along with the water cooling system) and lubricate the motor. i think you need to start using a better grade of oil if you are having oil breakdown issues. also that oil cooler is causing a lost of oil pressure.

Im not saying that anyone here is wrong, just when you use the search button you find all sorts of answers that are completely opposite each other.
Also im not having any issues yet, Im still in the building phase of this engine, (im just running a ls turbo right now), but I am planning on BIG numbers with this motor and am trying to prevent any serious issues. I might just ditch the cooler and run the GE kit. Kinda sucks that I already bought the stuff a while back for my LS and never got around to installing it, so I thought I would do it now.
DaveF whats your thoughts? are you running a oil cooler? Does anyone know of anyone running a cooler?

pretty the only people that need an oil cooler are the guys who race 40+ laps in road races. in a drag race you have time to let the engine cool off between runs. even on the streets they aren't really needed, so ditch it

its on the daily that i wonder if people think before they post

and i agree ditch the oil cooler setup it will do nothing for you at the drag strip just change your oil after every trip to the track like everybody else you will prolly over cool your oil and make it turn into sludge.

well I know I didnt want to overcool it, thats why I bought the permacool oil t-stat....Ya know I am putting a oil temp sensor in it so I will just dump the cooler for now, and keep an eye on the oil temp. if I have a problem later on, I already got the parts and Ill deal with it then :: Thanks for the help
