Default What is the deal Midwest Autoworks?

Hello everyone. I usually do not do these type of things, but I feel that I am getting the shaft on a deal Tony Miller at Midwest Autoworks and myself made. Dating back a month or two ago.

The longstory:
I had a complete longblock d series engine I was trying to sell a while back. Tony was selling a Motorklasse Wing for an S2000. We worked a deal that i would give him the engine and 50 bucks to paint (single stage) the wing the color or my s2000. We later came to an agreement to do 2 stage paint and instead I would give him the engine and 200 bucks. A week later he picked up the engine and he began to prep/paint the wing.

A week or two past and I got the wing. The quality was not the best (orange peel) and it looked a bit dull (like not enough clear). He told me to put it on and drive around so the clear could harden. I did, and about 2 weeks later I gave him a ring to see what the next step would be to finish this wing for me. Now, since this day (asside from him assuring me he was not avoiding me at the King BBQ/Dyno Day) I have not gotten any farther with this, i still have the wing and it is not 100% finished. I have called Tony MULTIPLE times (at least 10+ times), practically everytime I call I get his voice mail, and everytime I leave a voice message calmly askimg him to call me back regarding the wing and I leave my phone number for him to call me back at (which is the same number everytime).

I feel that I am getting the run around here. Its not like Tony and I dislike each other or anything so I do not know why this is such an issue. Im just a bit frustrated, i wanted this wing done and over with months ago, now its getting super close to storing my car for winter and i wont even have it done by then.

Tony, I know you will see this, please call me or reply on here or something.

I just had a newborn.

I have 2 missed calls from you, two with voicemails.(Justin can confirm this as I told him yesterday.

Was actually going to call you today and have you meet me in delafield on my way to madison so you didnt have to drive all the way here.

I told you at king i was busy.

I didnt do this with you through my business, so please keep my business name out.
You are about to store it, so whats the difference, we can do it any time.

Dont forget the fact that I went out of my way to find your cousin a car.
Probably the cheapest civic you will ever see in this area, then you just flaked on that.

I did not promise you that we would wetsand and buff the spoiler, I was going to do that as a favor.

Now after you writing this, i really dont think I will be doing any favors for you.

Sorry it had to be this way, but you are impatient.

Yes, I can attest to the fact that Tony has been really busy as he has just had a baby and other priorities are coming first. I am actually very impressed with the amount of work he can do now even after having a newborn baby.

Dustin, don't worry about it man everything will work out just fine. Tony will always take care of you and he has never been hesitant in the past to give everyone the best deals possible on whatever they want. I know first hand he has gone out of his way to find cars for many people and has given huge deals on parts/work. I also checked out your wing at the King meet and it really didn't look bad at all but I understand with it being a supercharged S and all, you want it to be perfect. I know you hate playing the waiting game as do I but like someone else said, you won't really need the car in winter so if the wing isn't on or perfect right now, it isn't too big of a deal.

I know all of this will be resolved and I don't think anyone should be knocking on Midwest Autoworks of the integrity of the business over this thread.

I just had a newborn. I understand that.

I have 2 missed calls from you, two with voicemails.(Justin can confirm this as I told him yesterday. I was referring to the whole time we were dealing with the wing, not just the past two weeks (either way not returning a call is unacceptable whether its personal or business)

Was actually going to call you today and have you meet me in delafield on my way to madison so you didnt have to drive all the way here. Thank you for your thought, that would have been a good plan. You still can.

I told you at king i was busy. Again I understand you are a busy guy. Personally and business wise

I didnt do this with you through my business, so please keep my business name out. ok sorry. mostly everyone knows your name by your company anyways.

You are about to store it, so whats the difference, we can do it any time. This is true, but i was hoping for a quicker resolution.

Dont forget the fact that I went out of my way to find your cousin a car.
Probably the cheapest civic you will ever see in this area, then you just flaked on that. This is/isnt exactly true, i stated a price we were looking to spend then you came back with an offer that was well over what i stated (yes the car you got was a great car for a great price, but still out of his range), and even in the end, you told me you sold the car almost the next day/week for something like 1,000 dollars more than we we looking to spend so how can you even make that a concern.

I did not promise you that we would wetsand and buff the spoiler, I was going to do that as a favor. This is correct, you did not guarantee anything. I guess it is just a bit upsetting that you would let something like this go on. The reason i spend more money to get the 2 stage paint job was so it would closly match my factory paint. the color is pretty close, but the surface quality is poor and clearly unacceptable.

Now after you writing this, i really dont think I will be doing any favors for you. I think that is rather unfair. Its not like I am making death threats or anything, i was just looking for a conclusion to this whole ordeal.

Sorry it had to be this way, but you are impatient. I do not think i am being impatient at all. I have waited over a month to have this sorted out. I cant beleive you think Im impatient. Thats just rediculous.

Im still interested in working something out. I think I am being rather fair with my thoughts. Now that we know their might be a problem and you do not want to continue this on the internet, you can call me. you have my number.

Kinda funny you said that first line and your ID on here is "MidwestAutoworks"

May be a good guy, never dealt with you, but your response seems pretty childish.

Hope you guys get this sorted out, I guess maybe next time do like the other guy said and only give him half the motor

That's nothing! Back in July I took my Mint 86 Fiero to Tony (you should see it, she goes like a Rapd-ape) to see if he could paint my interior trim Yellow and when I got the car back he or someone at his shop got grease or ketchup on my Custom yellow "Fiero" embroidered simulated leather slip covers! I was like "maaaaan, this is not "trick" I got some red smooge on the cuff of my favorite Bodyglove muscle shirt! Its was like a nightmare and I just wanted it to end.

That's not the entire story either! I get the car back, and naturally the first thing I do is pop open the glove box to retrieve my yellow fingerless racing gloves, and guess what?! There's ONLY ONE! Someone STOLE my left hand yellow leather racing glove.

at least I still have the right one.

I'm hoping Tony returns my call so we can get this all straightened out, Tony if you're reading this. I can't come tomorrow, I have a "perm" appointment at 2, but Wednesday looks good. I'll shoot you a call, I have your number in my fanny pack.

Dude, why the hell would you pimp out an 86 Fiero? All the pre-87's were just crap. I say sell your 86 (with the one glove) and get yourself a nice 87-88 model. You can still get it with the Iron-Duke 4-cyl and Auto tranny, don't worry.

But good color choice! Yellow is the new carbon fiber.

*The last Fiero meet before winter will be an online meet. Everyone is encouraged to setup their webcam in their own driveway and there will be a live weblink. I'll forward you the link when Scott sets it up.

the reason why you're wing looks dull is because you need to wet sand the orange peels from 1000 grid to 2000-3000 grid until it's smooth. then buff it out with rubbing compound and swirl removal.

anyways, tony is good people. i deal with him PENTY of times and will be HAPPY to deal with him MORE!
