trans or axle??/
i just bought a 97 accord ex coupe with a vtec for 2500. the shop had just put a new axle on the front end. I drove the car 1 day and went to shift the car n drive and it wouldn't move. the shifter moved with no problem but all i heard was the engine spinnin. da wheels didn't. i tried reverse, same thing. i turned the car off tried it again. nothing. i called the dude and he had it towed to his shop within a half hour. they checked the axle and said it was fine but i needed a trans. they found 1 and is installing it at no charge to me of course. what do u think the prob is??? should i keep this car or get a refund and find another??? the body is good, all electrical works. i swapped the radio went i bought it because they didnt have the code and i had taken the kenwood out of my caddy went i sold it so i opted to change it instead of payin $99 to honda for a computer search. im praying dis trans is good cause i have alot of plans for this beast.
if they are replacing the trans at no cost to you my suggestion is to just sit back and wait and see what happens....i mean your not losing any extra money

Well unrelated to the tranny/axle - if you took out the factory radio, and give Honda Service Desk the serial on the motor and proof of ownership they'll give you the code for free. The fee is associated with removing the radio to get the serial number.
With the tranny/axle issue, did you check to see if the axle was correctly installed? I've heard of a few people having issues with it popping out of place.

yea they did a check on it today and said the axle was good. i need another trans. i dont have any wheels now and wifey is n PA. so i cant even check to see if they are really chngin the trans or frontin. the axle could have popped out and they dont want to admit to ****ing up and now they want to act like they r doing me a favor. i"ve seen several around for sale but this was the only 1 w/ a vtec in my range. any ideas of a good 2-way alarm w/remote start. i live n/near the former car theft capital of the world????
ok, so I assume when you bought the car it drove, you went to have an axel replaced and now the tranny is busted? Its quite possible that the shop is full of ****.
If they "replace" the transmission ask to see the replacement tranny before hand. Because a poped put axel will give you those symptoms, also you cant break an trans JUST by replacing an axel no matter how bad you butcher the CV shaft install.

well the axle was "replaced" b4 i bought the car. i test drove it and so did my bro. we tried to beat it up on the drive to c if it would overheat, smoke, blow a gsket or die. it didn't. i buy it 3 days later ride around normally and it just wouldnt move anymore. no popping sounds i didnt hear anything break or snap. luckily i had gotten off the turnpike 10 mins prior to this happening

For future refrence, you shouldent beat on a car you are about to buy for reasons such as this.
