bottom end ?
right now i have a stock 95 si with a d16z6 that has 185k i planned on pulling the motor and building for boost doing vitaras and custom fj rods. now my dads lot just got a car in that has a bad bottom end its a 2000 ex with a d16y8 can the bottom ends be switched? and would it be benificial or harmful to go from a d16z6 bottom end to a d16y8? i plan on running around 275-300 whp on my setup. just trying to figure out if i can help my dad out without hurting my project.
i read that with eagles the compression ratios are like 7 to 1 i want around 8 ish thats why. are the blocks about the same strength and able to hold the same power?
your compression will not be that low it will be around 8.3:1 or higher
all i can tell you is if you dont get it tuned it will not last if its built or not
and yes both blocks will handle 450hp easy with stock sleeves
with the y8 block you have to mod the oil pump for more oil pressure

ooh ya its getting tuned i would never not tune after stories i have heard i just remember hearing something about the z6 being better but maybe it was the oil pump deal.
