burning oil question

Default burning oil question

97 itr. i have done alot of searching and found some answers but not exactly what im looking for. i am smelling burning oil after letting off the accelerator and decelerating to a stop. i have no external leaks. changed my pcv valve about 2 weeks ago. burning maybe a half quart every 2500 miles or so. BTW started smelling after 2nd oil change of royal purple

you guys are lucky, i got my type r motor from a shop, from his buddy and ive had it for almost a year and a half, put about 40k on it and it burns 4 quarts or more every oil change

no i dont see smoke from inside the car or at start up...i have never had someone drive away from me either. i do smell a little under WOT but not as bad as on decel

That's well within expectations, especially if you're redlining/VTEC'ing the engine regularly.
Maybe go to a thicker oil (in the summer) if you want an "easy" solution.

mine does the same thing, burns about the same amount, no smoking that I can notice. this started after running mobil one. nothing against mobil but was too thin for me. I now use regular mobil 5w30 and burn alot less then with synthetic
