My buddies hood cable on his DX is broken too, he has to reach under the bumper with his hand and find the latch and fidget with it. Takes him like 5 min to pop it. =P

You gotta reach into the bumper and pop it.. try and push on the lever with like a screw driver or something. I had the actual handle break off the cable, and had to replace the entire cable cause its all connected. Wasnt too bad tho, just popping the hood was a pain.

If you can still see the cable then use needle-nose pliers.

my cable broke on my 93 hatch, idk if its the same as the EK, but you gotta reach under the bumper, fish the cable, and pull it.

just jack it up, get a sense of where it is, and after awhile you can just feel for it and pop it in a few seconds.

I used vise grips for awhile, then the cable got so soft from being clamped on all the time, I had to replace the cable.

I replaced my cable, it is less than $20 from my local dealer.
