hey guys, i dont know much about cars, and haven't been driving stick for too long, but i know something is wrong here. ill be in 4th gear going about 60, then will shift up to fifth and the rpm's jump to about 5500-6000, what the hell?

 

take your foot off the gas.

 

LOL..yeah maybe your foot is still on the gas as you shift up. But if you're cruising at that high of an RPM going around 60 mph then possibly you have a short geared 5th along with a higher FD. I don't know what else may cause that.

 

sadly, ive already tryed that numerous times. im really stumped on this one, i was told it could be something with gear ratios? but thanks for the input!!

 

so when your in 4th going 60, you step on the clutch ONLY..it will jump to 5500-6000 rpms?

Check to see if you have a sticky throttle cable
