Default Refinishing Alloy Rims

I am in the market for some 99-00 Civic Si rims. I am willing to get a used set and do some work on them to make them look nice.

Just wondering your guys/girls opinion on these

Are the gouges/scratches too deep for it to be worth it?

You can get brand new "SI" wheels on ebay (replicas) for around $400 shipped. Why even bother with getting some refinished? Refinishing costs around $100 per wheel - so it's not cost effective when you can just buy them brand new for that price.

I plan on doing the refinishing myself. So that changes the equation...

so by "refinishing" you just mean painting them? I doubt you have the facilities at your house to do a OE quality wheel refinishing.

as far as are they "worth" it regarding the scratches/gouges - that's something you have to ask yourself.

I guess i am more or less looking for someone who has refinished themselves. And specifically, if the depth of the scratch is too severe to make look nice or if it is manageable.

But never the less, thanks Johnathan_ED3 for putting some input into this thread.

None of the scratches on that wheel look like they're too deep for a quality high build primer to take care of. I'd say go for it if you can buy them cheap.
