OMFG!! Part 2..
Ok bought a car for a buddy of mine as a present/surprise.
95 Honda Civic 4DR Auto
Engine: D16Y7

When we bought the car it wouldn't go over 60mph and the RPMs were bouncing all over the place like bad checks.
I removed the IACV from car, and it was damaged let alone stuffed with aluminum foil. I threw that one away and went to junkyard and bought an IACV from a 92-95 Civic Hatch, cleaned it up with Carb Cleaner, and put it back on.

All the **** that was in there:

After installation was successful I turned the car on and tested it by stepping on the gas a couple of times. RPM's were steady as can be. I didn't drive it b/c it wasn't registered/inspected/no insurance etc. I wasn't going to run the risk.
I finally told my buddy that I got him a car and had him sign title/register/get plates, insure the whole nine yards. He gives me the plates and I go home place them on car and try to test drive it.
The RPM's are fudgin up again. It's not as bad as the last time but they are still jumping around. The car feels sluggish as hell.
Heres what's already done to the car:
I just did a tune up myself/ Dizzy Cap & Rotor/New Plugs/New Wires/New Filter
Just did oil change myself 5W30 and replaced oil filter. Checked all fluid levels etc.
Throttle Body was replaced as well.
What the hell!!! OMG it's annoying. I try to do something nice for someone and **** backfires. Wheres the man G when you need him. God damnit can someone help me?
I didn't check for leaks yet but I'm guessing a vacuum leak. I'm new to this honda thing but I have knowledge and the patience to do the job. I mean I did everything else by myself and it was my first time. I did a search on this website but nothing good comes up. If someone can help me fix the problem I'd appreciate it. Want to have this done by Friday.

I think it's a leak. I want to look for less drastic things first before going out to buy stuff I may not need. Ok check this after installation was done. I hear this ringing noise from my resonator box. It's coming from around there. It's like a constant ringing noise. I took a video on my iPhone but need to upload it to photobucket since youtube takes Eons. Hopefully I'll have it to you guys soon so yall can see.

The dizzy was already replaced. I have the old dizzy still in the trunk. Today I bought some seafoam and as I was revving the car white smoke was coming out from around the throttle body somewhere. I couldn't tell if it was coming from a hose. It wasn't alot of smoke but it was noticable from an angle. So I know no there is a leak somewhere in there. I'm pissed because I want to fix this [freak]ing problem by tomorrow. Makes me not want to go out of my way sometimes. I blew off my girlfriend because I was [freak]ing around with this car trying to fix the problem.. Now I have 2 things to fix.... grrrr.. I also found some hoses that were not connected to anything. I'll take pictures now and post them.

Unknown Hose... It looks like it was cut. The motor in the car is from a 98 civic and the car is a 95 civic. Maybe cut because there was no need for it. Right or Wrong?

The hose coming from that sensor thingy doesn't connect to anything. It was just hanging there. What could it be? Could that be my issue.
i had the same problem on my sisters car. I later found out that it was the FITV. (backed out and dirty as hell)
You can search it on the forums how to get to it and clean it. (its under the throttle body with one coolant hose attached to it.)

Umm I was reading this thread and umm I was under the impression that the FITV was not present in 96-00 civic d16's so please clear that up for u I got the same issue. Thanks
burp!

I really need this working by tomorrow so my friend can come by and pick up his car. It's so frustrating. I don't have a garage so I have to work with what I have. If I had a garage I'd be in it right now figuring this thing out. I search for FITV and can't find a thread with damn pictures so I can get a general idea of where I'm going. Thanks guys.
FITV is supposed to be located right under the TB and has coolant lines running from the head to it and then it runs coolant to the IACV on the back side ; its got three bolts underneath it.
Yeah I found a thread in the HT section dedicated for Acuras with actual WORKING PICTURES!!!

That sucks that I have to remove that whole part to get to that. I'll trybut somehow I think it won't do me any good and I'll have the same problem.
Can anyone identify where those hoses connect to ^^^^^^^^ ?

check the timing,
make sure the exhaust isnt plugged up somewhere,
make sure the intake isnt restricted. ( air filter housings are a great place for animals to call home)
pull a plug wire and make sue there isnt a pool of oil in there.
make sure the firing order is correct,( its easy to cross a wire)
do an ecu reset and see if that fixes it.( sometimes the idle has to re-learn)
those are what i would check first.

i had a problem like that after i clean up my IACV, but i would do it every now and then, Found out that there was an air bubble in the IACV that was stick up in there, So i took one of the hoses off and made sure that the fluid was coming out before i put it on. Havent had a problem since.

I know the dude since 5th grade. I feel bad b/c it's going to get real code out here and to take the bus sucks. As I drive by bus stops I feel bad for people waiting (mostly hot chicks).
I just did a tune up so no oil in the spark plugs, new everything. I don't know if the leak has to do with one of those wires not being connected. As far as checking timing, etc. You lost me. I know how to work on hondas but it's not at an expert level. As previously stated while seafoaming the car there was white smoke coming from somewhere near the throttle body area (like towards the back near the firewall) It's only supposed to release white smoke through the exhaust. So it leads me to believe that my problem involves a leak.
Is it safe to Seafoam it again just for the purpose of seeing where the smoke originates from? Thanks

I would look for that leak first. Also after the seafoam, I believe you have to change your engine oil.
Nice Friend

I already did an oil change about 3 days ago, 0 miles on the new oil change. Do I still need to change it? Can anyone help me identify those loose hoses?
Ok... If anyone comes reads this. WHERE do those 2 hoses connect to? Scroll up and see the pictures. One hose comes from the Map Sensor but isn't connected anywhere on the car.
I didnt read other peoples responces but i read your first and last (and went back to the pictures).
If your talking about the nylon type hose dont worry about it, it is not engine related. I believe it goes to the charcoal canaster to vent excess pressure. The other hose does not go to the map as your map is attached to the TB not a firewall map. Where does that line go to?
Does the engine free rev to redline? When you are driving and it stops at 60 does it feel like a bog, or does it feel like its hitting a rev limiter? If its hitting a rev limiter then you might want to do a transmission change. Make sure there is auto fluid and not manual or engine fluid.

I bought it from this dude who said the motor in it had just been swapped from a 98 civic. Guy ran into problems after the swap. I guess someone tried to ghetto rig the iacv with aluminum foil. I figures that hose went to the canister since the canister had a nipple on it that doesn't have a hose attached. I turned on the car and I could here suction come from that hose. This is a nightmare I don't think it's the transmission because if I leave it on park I can move between gears and can feel it shift without problems.

find that intake leak. there probably was an intake leak, when that happens the idle goes up, the guy probably thought the iacv was f'd up and put aluminum foil in there in a desperate attempt to bring the idle down. probably let a hose off behind the manifold, check the pcv.
The idle is steady when I turn on the car. Idle goes crazy when I give it gas and then bounces around. I haven't had time to look for the leak because of work/school. But I plan to do it tomorrow since I have no class. Hope this gets fixed.
