Default 95 GSR, newly rebuilt engine not running right?!?!

hey i have a 95 integra gsr, we just rebuilt the block after a spun bearing, and everything seems to be alright except that when I first start it it idles at like 3000rpms for a few seconds and then it will idle very very fast from 1000rpms to 3000rpms. Like within a second the needles goes from 1 to 3 and back down. If any one has any suggestion of what could be wrong let me know,
Thanks,
Josh

that would be your FIT valve aka (Fast Idle Thermal valve) its the part that is bolted to the bottom of the throttle body to pull that off there will be 2 coolant hoses and just unbolt the throttle body from the intake manifold when u look at it when its of you will see a flat block off plate with 2 10mm phillips head screws take those off and u will see a loose plastic piece inside of it now take it out and clean it up and grab some caulk or plastic weld and put it on the threads and screw that white plastic piece back in hook everything back up the way u took it off and add coolant and it shouldnt idle weird again

that didnt fix anything it. I dont know if this would effect anything but the head was used for an ls/vtec and it still has the plug in it and the oil line or whatever still runs from there to the gsr block, would that have anything to do with the idle?? because i was thinking about buying a new head if needed??

You probably have a vaccum leak somewhere. My car used to do the same thing and it turned out to be a leak in the throttle body. I replaced the gasket and it idled smoothly. Grab some brake cleaner and spray it all over your intake manifold. If you notice a change in idle you've found your leak.

vacuum leak or your IACV. i would say vacuum leak just because you just re assembled everything and you could have missed a hose or its not clamped on tight. if you spray brake clean and dont find anything take off your iacv off the back of your intake manifold and spray throttle body cleaner in there.

thats what im looking for now is a vacuum leak are there any particular hoses that would cause it or just any of them? Also does anyone have a picture of the back of a gsr with all the hoses connected and all that so i can see where they go??

could be anything from a small hose to your injector grommets. did you check your iacv?

First thing that came to mind was the IACV. My car idled terribly until I cleaned it.

yeah i have cleaned that didnt do anything so i bought a different one and that didnt do anything. i changed to fit valve or what ever its called. The engine idled fine before so i dont think any sensors could have gone bad in the 2wks it was out of the car, thats why i was thinking of the vacuum hoses
