First of all a code 70 on an OBDII car is not correct.

All OBDII codes begin with a P. For an example PO070 or a P1070

You need to get the correct code. That will tell us alot more. You can stop by a Checker's, Schucks, Kragen and have them pull the code for free.

Probably a VSS code or an Solenoid code.

a buddy of mine had the same issue with his EG hatchy years ago and we were in the same situation as you are in now,for one if you drive the car hard then your tranny could possibly have gone to honda heaven. If option one isnt in your persona then it could quite possibly be the tranny solenoid which if i remember correctly is right on top of it facing towards the hood, its like a vtec solenoid in the the aspects of it has a lil mesh filter thingy on it and if its clogged with particles just like a vtec solenoid it wont ingage all that great. i personally didnt fix the car but he took it to a local honda guru and HE replaced that solenoid with a brand new one and his EG hatchy was shiftin through gears like a champ again. IF this solenoid goes bad it will throw codes at you and your tranny will feel like you changed your tranny fluid for an ultra thick milk shake with strawberry chunks in it...

just in case here is a series of transmission trouble codes you can get for automatic OBD2a vehicles

CODES0700, P0715, P0720, P0725, P0730, P0740, P0753, P0758, P0763, P0780
MIL CODE:70
DIAGNOSIS:Auto Transmission Related

i guess when you said "CEL code 70" you meant "MIL CODE 70" which can translate to any of the above codes i put out above,in your reader scan tool it should display one or more of these codes, with that code or codes look it up online I,E google or yahoo for what the computer is signaling as malfunctioning and you can trouble shoot further from there

hope this helps you out.

i just spent my last post of my noob status day but, i hope my advice fixes your problem.

DC.... A big for you for using your last post for this.

I don't mess with mil codes unless the car is well OBDII-less.

THX again.

these transmissions are notorious for going bad... i think it was 98 when they all started having problems. it was a big warranty issue and if mileage and seiral are right i think honda replaced some at no charge.. but now i'm guessing you have more than 100,000 miles...

anyway, even if you are able to get info on the meaning of the code 15, you'll still need to take it to a dealer or certified honda mechanic to get it fixed right. i would personally recommend being prepared to put in a reman-ed trans. you can have a trans shop rebuild yours... but this can be hit-or-miss, and a miss will cost you even more than going with a honda remanufactured.

so yeah, find a well quallified honda shop to have a look at it. hope you're back on the road soon!

torque converters are huge metal donuts that just swish fluid around to make force......if im not mistaken...................visually inspect it and see if there is anything on there thats obviously wrong. i personally never heard of a bad torque converter but, im not a honda guru to be exact if it were me i would do it and if it works it works and if it doesnt its not gonna cost you more to take the tranny down since from what it seems to be you are doing your own work. how was your tranny fluid after you took it out? did it have little metal particles in it?
