Vehicle Speed Sensor, VSS problem
Hey guys,
So recently (past few weeks), my Speedometer has been jumpy. By that I mean sometimes rapidly jumping from 0 to 100mph.. cars probably not that fast huh?.. anyway. No codes were thrown until just recently. The needle sits at 0 all the time now instead of periodically. I thought it was a wiring issue since .. well my swap was gross and I have a crappy harness. I found some poorly soldered wires and I aimed to replace them. (was a bitch cuz i had to pop the intake manifold to see them lol). Anyway, got them all soldered up and everything and I started checking the connections..
I used my multimeter and got the following
Yellow ~ 12.0 V
blue/white ~ [5.0 +/- 0.5]V (i think)
Black ~ 60 ohlms...
what would the resistivity be between a ground on the VSS to the negative on the battery? I thought it should converge to 0 ohlms but it was steady around 60. Is that right? I mean a direct wire is goign to be 0hlms so given there will be some resistance in all the connections, but 60 ohlms?
