Default TiAL Q BOV Help.

I'm getting all my parts together for my LS EK and I dont know what spring to get for my BOV. Does anyone know what spring I need. Im looking at it on No Limit Motorsports.com and they have 7,9,11psi springs available does anyone know which one I need. Also has anyone ordered from them or JDM Ultimate?

If its a B-series honda still using base timing, more than likely it will be an 11 to 12 pound spring. This will change if you have a lot of T's off of the brake booster, or another main vaccum source.

well i have a tial q with a 10/11 psi spring the one for a honda, and it eventually blew out my turbo, because it wouldnt blow off all the time during low boost and it would compressor surge

i highly doubt it was my vacum source or my setup, the turbo was fine untill after i put the tial q on there

i would look into a lower psi spring around 7psi or so, if your setup is for low boost, it will help blow off at lower boost

just from my expreience

WHAT? blew out your turbo because of tial. honda one. spring selection by boost pressure.

oh my, where to start.

you select a spring by the tialsport chart of how much vac you pull at idle fully warmed up, there is no "honda" one. you seem to think the spring pressure rating in psi is directly related to the boost pressure your pushing for selecting a spring, WRONG!

blew out your turbo cause of the tial Q? I would love to see some factual information to back that up. you do realize there are quite a few application that dont use a BOV AT ALL without a problem. including race cars and whatnot.

What I highly doubt, is that you would have any idea if it was your vac source or setup after reading your post since your totally misinformed.

well according to that link i posted earlier, you would run a black-marked spring which is for vacuum readings between -8 and -11 in/Hg, specifically a -6 Psi (-12 in/Hg) Spring.

Good luck

-7, -9, -11, and -12 springs are the options for the Older Tial version BOV.
-6, -8, -10, -11, and -12 springs are the options for the Newer, redesigned Tial "Q" bov.
Since your vacuum in at -10, it would either be the -7 spring (black) for the older Tial version BOV or -6 spring available (also black) for the newer "Q" bov.

actually no i did not relate it to boost pressure, all my hondas ive owned pull vacuum of 20inHg on a fully warmed engine, i dont know if yours is the same

i have tried different sources for vacuum and its the same, and my car is not a race car, i believe the spring was just a tad stiff for my setup

i can make the can "blow off "but i would need to seel full boost or close to it, i cant get mine to blow off at 7psi

im sorry that you think im dumb, but i do know a few things

what do my thrust washers have to do with it ?

i dont

i dont </TD></TR></TABLE>

unless you had a ball bearing turbo running 20+ psi i doubt surge killed your turbo.
