Default CF Hood doens't sit right

G'day all,

Have any of you had any problem with their CF hood? I just purchased one and the side next to the fender sits higher.

It was a Seibon hood.

Here's what it looks like compared to OEM hood

Cheers

most carbon fibre bonnets don't fit quite right

I don't have any experience with Seibon, but I haven't come across a carbon fibre effort yet that fits the same as OEM.

but if that Milano Red bonnet is mint I might take it off you

yea, that's what I meant. the bolts for the hinges line up, and it fits OK into the catch, but the panel gaps are always bad.

Have not seen one that made in US either fit right or properly latched.
I guess these dinky company just does not have $ to do R&D or care.
Not worth the $ to try to save .01 lb & watch it fly away!

OP, it sounds like you are going to need some shims to even it out.

Most European and Asian countries refer to hoods as "bonnets"

As for the CF bonnet in the pics, imo, I would send it back. There will always be some fitment issues with the CF hoods, but yours looks warped as if it was made of fiber glass. Does it have fiber glass frame? If so maybe the frame is warped...??

Yes it does have a fibre glass frame at the back and I believe you are right on the money. I wanna send it back to get a replacement but the seller is not an easy one

It would have been nice if Spoon made a USDM carbon bonnet. I think a long time ago, they actually did make a USDM version though, from what I remember (this is just for George)... "back in the day." On the JDM side of it, you can't go wrong with SPOON!

It cant. But at least you can change the angle of the hood in hopes of making it look like it fits better.

I've always liked the way a C/F hood looked on my R. I had a VIS Invader hood w/ the vent and it as near a perfect fit as you could hope for. I sold it a while back and will most likely stay w/ the stock hood.
