cruise control, horn, srs light all messed up
i bought my 94 ex with the SRS light on and the cruise and the horn dont work.
the kid said it had a nasty steering wheel on it before and they cut the wires but i dont think so cause i took it apart and the wires are plugged in EXCEPT FOR THE ONE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE STEERING WHEEL.
im thinking that is the one for the SRS??
when i press my cruise button it doesnt show on the dash so im thinking thats a fuse? but why doesnt my horn work?
my biggest question is if my SRS light is on and i plug in the bottom plug will me airbags go off? im not sure why its on when the pass side air bag is still original.

IIRC, this indicates an issue with the clock spring.
The SRS light will be on as long as one or more airbag is not properly functioning.

so i tried to reset it manually like the link i posted. it didnt work. the light is still on.
i checked the fuse...it was good.
i took my airbag out and everything was plugged in except 2 tabs. the are like tabs when you take out a circuit board. not wires but like a plastic tab with electirc through them. one come from the cruise and the other from nothing.

Get your airbag checked by a dealer. Its probably not hooked up right. As to cruise control, make sure you know how to operate it. I thought mine was broken too but I wasn't holding the set button long enough =P You have to be above 45 and hold set for ~5 seconds. If it still doesn't work, check your vacuum hoses for leaks.

It's the round thing under your steering wheel. You have to take the steering wheel off to access it and replace it.
Someone else has confirmed that the SRS reset you linked to was correct.

i dont see how the airbag could be hooked up wrong? it only one plug. i dont think the cruise is just in the steering wheel. even when i press the button on the dash it doesnt light up the cluster light. ill check the hoses though.

dude i have had the same problem ever since i switched from power to manual steering. once i got the new rack and pinion in, i turned the wheel and felt something break. now my SRS light is on, and my cruise and horn dont work. its been like that for a year and i could never figure it out. it felt like a wire snapped or something and i have looked all over to find nothing broken. i never took the steering wheel off though. let me know how this works out for you cuz i really hate not having a horn, airbags, or cruise!!! thanks man.

if you do a search on a clock spring or cable reel you will find its a pretty common problem. i didnt know this until this post though. but yeah just search that to find out some more info. ill let you know though if i figure it out.

Yes cable reel and clock spring both describe the same part depending on who you ask.
If you buy a used one from a salvage yard make sure it is taped up in the center position so that when you install it it is already centered or else you'll break it when you steer lock to lock the first time!

These parts get broekn very commonly by people when they swap steering wheels, steering racks, etc.

Number 1 illustrates what Honda calls "Reel Assy, Cable" but 99% of the junk yards call it "clock spring" as do half of the actual Honda parts counter guys.
BTW new ones are retarded expensive at $240.00 wholesale, $343.00 list!

wow thats expensive for that little thing. i have a 93 del sol. do civic share the same clock spring? and if so which years civics, 92-95? just cuz i know no junk yard round here has a sol
look at the first pic i posted and tell me what the 2 "tab" thinks are. one hooks to the cruise buttons and the other to the airbag.
are they supposed to go to nothing?
