Default Speed Limiter?

Yesterday, I tried to reach my top speed and for some reason, my car won't pass 128mph. felt like the fuel cut off. I was under the impression that ITR's didn't have a speed limiter.

Here's my questions, did 97-98 R's have speed limiters? Did the ITR in Japan have a speed limiter?

I have videos of it but don't know how to transfer it onto computer.

btw, I tried this at a dried up lake, "salt plains". This is where they test out sound breaking cars and stuff, 5 miles of flat nothing

dang that sucks man...anyways, there is no speed limiter on any of the ITRs -- most of the people on here have easily gone past 140+ (including myself). this might be a stupid question...but you did shift all the way to 5th right??? as far a my knowledge the only thing that limits these cars is co-efficient drag and the fuel cut-off. what mods have you done? how many runs did you take at the salt plains?

Did the ITR in Japan have a speed limiter?

No.
So do you have any idea why it would do this on my car?

How long did you keep the throttle down while you were at 128?

I was at full throttle at about 7K goin 128, then it just stopped accelerating and the rpms started to fall as if i let off the gas, which i didn't. It drops about 400rpms then it starts to accelerate again and does the exact same thing at 7K going 128. Felt like i was letting off the throttle and getting back on it, but i had it down the whole time.

I've hit 150+ indicated w/ mine...it's a 98, not like that matters, but just thought I'd throw it in...

definitely some issues if you can't get higher than 128

Yeah, I'm really curious about this, too. There's something wrong.

His top speed should be much higher than that.

Hell, most of us reach 130 at the tracks we frequent.
i was thinking the person i bought the car from changed the ecu, but no integra ecu has a governor. . Plus vtec kicks in at about 5.6-5.7K rpms, so it still should be an ITR ecu. is there a way to program a governor into an R ecu?

i wouldn't see why anyone would want to purposely place a governor or any type of limiter...you should have it checked at a tuning shop or even acura if it comes down to it.

This is pretty revealing.

you bastard haha

okay, i just checked my ecu, it said B18C-2001722, and directly underneath that, it says type-R. this was written in a goldish marker. is that suppose to be written in a marker?

on the side of the ecu, it says, 37820-p73-003 and directly underneath it, it says, 967-1134345. to the right of it, it has in larger letters saying "G8". all this was typed.

it was cool, about 75degrees. not humid or dry. just windy.

i just watched the video again, and for sure something is not letting me pass 7K rpms in 5th...

128? it must have been the wind. I have burried the needle numerous times with ease. thats over 140. Unless you have a jdm ecu for some reason then theres a speed limiter, other then that, try again.

JDM ITR's had a speed limiter? well it wasn't the wind, that's because was going the direction the wind was blowing. i tried many times and same results, it didn't let me pass 7k in 5th...

how do you know if you have a JDM ITR ECU? Can some look at their ECU for me and see if the numbers i posted earlier are similar to yours. thanks
