Default Pimp My Ride :D

A while back somebody decided to back up into me. Well, yesterday, I got a nice little check from his insurance company. $1,347.04 to be exact.

Here is my car before the accident.

And the aftermath.

I decided to get new parts instead of taking it to a body shop.

I found on a website, and they happen to be local too which saves me about $200 on shipping, a 99-00 front end conversion for about $500. Includes OEM hood, fenders, and bumper, Type R headlights (chrome or black housing), and my choice of Type R or Mugen grill, and front lip.
Probably going to go with the chrome headlights (unless you can convince me otherwise), Type R lip, and Type R grill.

Now, that leaves me with about $800 and an unpainted front end.

I am thinking of having my local community college paint my entire car, since they have an open autobody shop and I hear they would only charge for the cost of materials.

Suggestions what I should do? The car is all stock. I have been wanting to do something with the interior if you have ideas, expecially the steering wheel. I hate the OEM wheel with its two buttons of a horn. I always fumble finding them when I need to use my horn.

poor honda lucky you get some bank for it!

i like your idea of front end conversion etc, but i would say you should try to paint it yourself, save some money, and lower your car, it would give you a nice new look and better suspension, that just my opinion, it is your $ and car, do what you like. oh and i forgot, i hope you have an alarm.

Yeah, it is a poor honda.

I have been thinking of painting it myself, but it seems like too much work that I do not have time for. Plus, I dont really have an area where I can paint it except my driveway, which would probably not be good.

I did want it lowered a couple inches. I would prefer lowering springs since they are cheaper, and I dont plan on slamming it anyway. I would also need new shocks if I did this right so I dont blow out my OEM ones?

Probably going to get my windows tinted too.

And maybe fog lights.

So many choices.

And sadly, no alarm system. Guess I should get one of those huh? About how much would that cost?

yeah go with the conversion with the type r parts i would go black housing since your car is black a few of my friends have this looks very clean and mild .

i would also do the fogs would add to that jdm look.

also with the left over $$$ u should invest in a ctr steering wheel my buddy just picked up one looks very nice or you can get a cluster i think those items are a good investment they never loose to much value unless you seriously damage them.

All in all you got alot of good ideas good luck on your hunt for parts dont forget to post the outcome

I agree with the black housings, I have a black 00 civic with the black headlights, type r grill, lip and fogs and I like it...kinda stealthy looking. I'll post up a pic if I can find one Here's a pic before I put on the lip and fogs. I'll take a pic with the new parts on and put it up tomorrow if I get a chance.

If you're gonna drop it on springs you might as well replace the shocks while they're in there. There's no telling how long the stock shocks will last - the ride will definitely be better on some aftermarket shocks too. Just my $.02

The only bad thing about having the local community college is don't expect to have it back quickly. But if it's not your daily, it's the best idea.

yeah, for the right way, you need more stuff, but he would be fine with just the fender, the hood, headlight, grillie... if you want better fitment, a guy(99_hb_on_air) told me you need a fender stiffner and radiator support.

no alarm??? pls get an alarm esp cuz u r in california, they dun cost much, i got mine for 200$ include installation(from fry's) you can get a good one around that range, and if you want auto start, two way pager etc, the price and the installation would go up.

seekquencer, honduhdave, problem with doing black housing lights is that if I dont get the car painted now, it will definatly be repainted later, and it wont be black, so I think it might look kind off. Chrome housing will be a safe bet.

Jasony, I am kinda new to the car modding scene, what do you mean single cam?

And I am not too worried about the local college painting it. They are right down the street, and I dont really have any places to go besides work, which I am only scheduled on the weekends anyway.

And I'll look into an alarm.

Also, how are the side moldings held on? I have seen some pictures with no moldings and just the groove where they go, and other pictures with some square holes below where the moldings are.
I like what it looks like without the moldings, but dont want to do it if there are going to be the square holes underneath.

well that is a nice check for that minor damage.
i got my 96dx withfront end damage and did a 99swap. looks much better even with the primered front end.LOL

just get some primer and some black primer sealer.
and definatly get some black oem style headlights.

and you can always just try to paint the parts before puting them on. one good thing about black its easy to match closely. if your decent with a rattle can it will look decent after paint and clearing them.

Well, I think for now with the outside I will stick with the front end conversion with the chrome lights, and getting the front end painted to match, or the whole car painted, depending on price, and than possibly fog lights and window tint.

For the inside, I will be taking out the back seats and making this.

Also definatly want a new steering wheel.

I will get pics of my interior so you can all help me with that so I can make it look better.
