Default what would cause this?

Hey everyone, i have a problem.
I have a 95 EG hatch with a h22a4. I got the car from my best friend who just recently deployed to afghanistan, and well he was driving it the other day before he left and the car started to miss(studder and backfire) almost as if it stopped taking fuel. We replaced the fuel pump, replaced the injectors, almost everything fuel related but still did not fix the problem. When i turn the key switch on to listen for the fuel pump to prime. 3/4 times i do it, no fuel pump prime. When the fuel pump does prime, it will start and idle perfect. When you go to pull out, it falls on its face and dies then will not start back.

Would the main relay cause this? Id appreciate all the help.

Not the main relay--he may need a fuel pressure regulator but that wouldn't be the cause of the main problem--make sure you're checking the spark plugs, also check for any vacuum leaks, they can cause misfires under acceleration, maybe run a compression check, easy quick and can tell a lot.

the compression was good, the car is running of a chipped rywire ecu with rywire harness, no egr or knock. would a bad tps cause it to act like an ***? the idle does not surge, it just once it has been running for a minute or so, it just falls on its face completely. changed out the main relay just to see but it did nothing. any other suggestions?

You could try disconnecting the TPS while it's running and see what happens. Did you check at all for any vaccuum leaks?

check the tps by taking a multi meter to it, back probe into the back of the plug, the two outer ones probably, it should read like .5 at closed and 4.5 at wide open throttle, do this with car on but not running.
