Default Help I have to start my car GHETTO!

Ok, so the other day I was at the mall and I come out ready to go home. I get in my car (1995 Civic CX) turn the key and nothing happens. I have all my power for the lights, radio, and ext. So I thought to myself that it could be the starter even though I just replaced it.

So I pushed my car out of the parking spot and ran with it. Jumped in and on I go. I get home take out my starter and have it checked and all turns out great well kinda because I didn't fix the problem. So I then took a 2gauge wire and touched the power cable off the starter to the little plug on the starter and the car fired right up.

How do I go about fixing this problem with out having to buy the entire key tumbler and what not from autozone for $230.00. I got a push start from an s2000 but cant find any write ups on it.

Can anybody HELP ME!!!!! Thanks

do you have the single wire hooked up? the wire from the ignition to the starter relay? sounds like its not hooked up, or bad contact.

The same exact thing happened to me last week. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the push start button. My problem was my clutch. There was a rubber piece that had broke apart. Whenever I pushed my clutch nothing would happen. When I realized it was the rubber piece. Instead of taking the whole thing apart I just bypassed it. Starts right up.

No I dont have the button hooked up yet. I want to hook up the button now that the my car is not starting in the right manner. I want to put the start button in to fix this problem. The wire from the relay is bad i believe. Reason I say this is because I have to touch the power wire to my starter with another wire to where the wire from the relay to the stater goes to get. Anybody following?

Thanks

ok so I did some more research and I believe my problem to be my starter relay is why my car is not starting.

Any thoughts?

theres a very good possibility your starter relay could be bad. you should be able to hear them click when they work. you could always right that.

so why the push button on the stocker? just curious.

I thought that it would add something different to the car. I mean I want to do stuff to the car and have had money saved up at different times but something always seems to come up when I am about to spend my money towards my car.

i know the feeling, i am sure everyone here on this forum knows that feeling. i wasn't knocking ya with the push button. i have one too except my integrated into my anti-theft deterrent... i will tell you though some times i REALLY HATE having a push button. the coolness definitely wore out after a week or two.

I had that happen to me, and it turned out to be the clutch switch. If that thing fails the car won't start.
