Default Head Change!!!

Ok I have a 90 civic hatch... it has the gay dpfi manifold with a d16w7 block non vetc head... I want to do a head change... I want a D16y8 VTEC head on it... A buddy told me i could put it on my block but it would take alot of work to do.... I need some help.... and i dont really know what parts i need to do the swap.. If someone could make me a parts list that'd be great... but im new to this swap stuff... I dont really know what parts that i need, im not a mechanic im in auto body... thats what i do, but any help would be great..

i may have put down the wrong numbers.... i dont have my car with me right now, its at the shop... but ill check tomorrow and get back at ya... it might be a d16z6... but ill tell ya tomorrow..

I appreciate that you are trying to be helpful but you reply to absolutly EVERY thread and arn't usually full of useful and/or correct info.


The op meant d16y7 and that is a 96-00 motor. PLEASE know what you're talking about if you want to try to help.

I have had to facepalm at too many of your replies recently and I just couldn't take it anymore.

Edit: Sorry OP. What you want to do is called a "mini-me." It is well documented and a quick search will find you all sorts of threads pertaining to the topic.

What other info have i givin that was wrong please tell me.I answer alot of stuff because other people dont.

I mainly want a single just a single cam VTEC.. and I just dont want to go through an engine swap i just want to change heads..

Search for info on a "mini-me" swap. sohc vtec head on a sohc non-vtec block. I already said it in my post way the hell up there ^^ pay attention.
