Default Serious debate about mph and ET

My friend has a GSR that gets 9.7 in the 1/8th with a 75mph. Today at the track we saw a LS run 9.0 with a 77mph. I told my friend he was only 2mph faster because his launch/traction/60ft time was real good. Does getting a real good 60ft lower your mph or am I mistaken? He's all into physics and thinks it defys physics to have a slower mph by launching better.

err sorry. the integra ls was an awesome driver. came out the hole real fast and kept going. 9.0 1/8th and 77mph.

my friend in the gsr is a good driver, 9.7 75mph but his 60ft times are around 2.5.

"it depends on too many things. . . .
i ahve done a 14.0 at 104.57 mph already and a 13.3 at 101,as well as many 13.6-13.8 at anywhere from 100-101"
i quoted this from another post. he got 14secs in the quarter and 104mph, when he got 13secs his mph went down to 101. thats what im talking about...

Got me how this guy managed this.something probably aint right with his car or his driving cause the MPH should be more consistant....or maybe the clock just messed up on that one 104mph run

or maybe a good tail wind helped him out..i think the 104 wouldve been more repeatable if his car was capable

killer traction at start will kill the MPH in the traps.

LS likely had stickys or was a BADASS driver.

A spinning launch usually nets a higher MPH trap speed.

Nothing new.

Yeah, like Mista Bone said!!

Two consecutive runs in mine 14.4 @ 96.3 and 14.7 @ 96.9.

Traction takes a bit out of your MPH. If you want impresive MPH, 30 psi (in the tyres not the motor)

when i cut a good 60 ft, the mph is usually off/lower by 1-2 mph.

If you think about it then it makes perfect sense. If you spin a lot off the line then you shift into 2nd at distance "x", where if you had wound out 1st gear slipping the clutch a little with no wheelspin then you shift into 2nd at distance "y". Distance "y" will be greater than distance "x" meaning that every shift after that will come sooner on the run where you ran to distance "x" in 1st gear and your ET will be higher than if you'd shifted at distance "y" with little or no wheelspin. The run where you shift at distance "y" will be quicker at a lower mph because the launch was better and you held 1st gear longer. That's why the first thing I look at is my 60' times when I get my slip to see how well I actually did out of the hole, then I look at my mph and ET to see what I need to do better. I've run a 15.5 at 89mph and then a 15.3 at 86mph within a few minute timespan with no changes done to the car.

the GSR is runnin what it should the LS has prolly got awesome traction and is runnin NOS. my MPH is always about the same givin traction or no traction. the times with good 60fts is where overall ET comes from.
