Default Speaker grill troubles

Alright I fabbed a custom mdf housing for my components in the front doors, but now I can't put the speaker covers back on the door (95 Civic Sedan) b/c tabs hit mdf. I was anticipating this but was just wondering has anybody run into a problem like this and what did you do? I was thinking of just refabn the speaker grills to cover the gaps? Any advice is appreciated

Pics?

You can probably just use a dremel, or a drill, and cut reliefs in the mdf.
