It can be done, the power/speaker plug is different on the car and HU so adapter plugs are needed, [can be found at any car audio shop].
Your EF is a "rear mount" system and the 99 HU uses an ISO, [side mount] mounting system, you will need to make some kind of "rear mount" bracket for the HU.
