Hey everybody
Anybody know anyone who completed a F22B1 head swap onto a F22A1, F22A4, F22B2?

Yes as in you have one swapped, or you know someone?
I have read both of the links in the FAQ.
I'm curious if any one else besides GIMPYACCORD has completed this.
If you look at my thread in my signature i know it will fit, ( Ithink I need a different head). But I want to know if anyone else has completed this swap besides GIMPYACCORD. Or am I the second person to attempt it?

I have done it. I've seen others do it. why do you ask? its exactly the same block, the head is different. all the parts you need are listed, however i was told you can use the non vtec timing belt AND waterpump together and it will fit.
also, just curious, how come you want that? i did it for turbo and tuning, but if you want the snap and power of vtec like in a civic you're not going to get it.. its more for fuel economy

ok, cool right on. which dizzy did you use? and did you run into any problems with firing order?
i actually had a whole parts car that i bought for really cheap from a kid who crashed it and just pulled off everything i needed from it. I left the intake manifold, dizzy, and wires connected to it and just pulled it. So far i have not had any problems.. besides getting the right damn rotor for the dizzy when i did a tune up. for some reason advanced auto didn't have the right one.. but im pretty sure the one i have is external but i have now forgotten. I did the swap with the help of a friend whose a mechanic, so any problems i had were foreseen by him.

I take it you did this onto a B2 block?
I think you mean external to internal coil, the F22b2 has external, F22b1 has internal.
did you remove the oil restrictor?

yeah thats what i mean haha. i knew they were opposite but i forgot which was which. and yes, i did this one the b2 block and if there is an oil restrictor it was removed. I forget if this block has one or not (like the civic d15 does for an example), i honestly wasn't there for the first part of it being put on. I want to say it does, and that it just needs to be removed the same way, is like a little plug. If you don't remove it, no vtec.

np, i'll ask my friend if he remembers there being a plug or not. but the more i think about it.. the more im sure there was. aren't you also the one who started the other thread on the vtec swap on the f23 block?
edit: i see what you're doing here haha. You want to see if the f23 head will fit on the f22b2 block.

no my block was just professionally rebuilt. i have about 1100 in it, its not going any where, but i'm thinking about trying a F22b1 head instead of the F23 head.
i have no idea on the f23 head.. to be honest, i didn't think it'd work because its bigger and i thought they had different strokes but idk.
The f22b1 head will be fine on the f22b2 block, because tech. its the same block. Its only different by the oil plug for vtec or non vtec.
Have you thought about the h22 head on the f22 block?

Id rather go SOHC just because i have to much in this to just have to buy a bunch of other parts and start over.
gotcha gotcha, just curious. you'd make good numbers i think with the h22/f22 or g22 as its called now. good for turbo.. but im not sure what route you're going or what you're planning on doing.

you're thinking about vtec-e.
like on the bikes, or the civic hX.
i think ths is the normal operation

you will not feel vtec engage on the f22's.</TD></TR></TABLE>
look into vtec-e.
ya you wont feel it engauge, when you feel that it means ur power band isnt smooth...
but with vtec-e 3 valves work at a time ( i think its 2 for the bike) and abouve a certain rpm then all 4 work

what the heck are you talking about?
I am saying on the f22b1 vtec head, you will not feel anything. you will gain maybe 2-3 whp on a dyno. its more for economy then performace. i don't get what you're getting at.
