Default Rust on a 07?

My dad has a 2007 Fiji Blue Civic SI. We live in NY so it snows and is cold half the year. I don't understand how his car already has rust. The spots are around the trim of the car rear windows and some other random spots. They are small but there a many like 10 different ones.

We took it to the dealership and they said it was his fault and wouldnt cover it at first. They stated that he hit it in those spots with a snowbrush. I still fail to see how it would cause that. But they said they will take care of it for free. I mean i have a 2000 celica with NO rust i brush it off as well.

I'll take some pictures next week when i see it. Any comments and is this supposed to happen?

WOW that is rediculous i dont think ive ever even seen and 06 with rust i didnt think it was possible. they probly messed it up when it was being painted as long as ur not using a wire brush i dont think that would cause a problem like that..

Hondas seem to have very weak paint. It's the tradeoff for having pretty paint, they give you a lot less of it. I once got caught behind a sand truck on the highway, in my old car, last winter. Boy was that brutal. A sandstorm of salt and sand will do numbers on the paintcoat.

i have an 06 and no rust, mine doesn't see snow though. It is wicked what the salt they use on the roads can do.

SALT + SNOW + OXYGEN = RUST.

Shouldn't rust with a proper clearcoat on it.
