Ok, my machine bought an old 88 or 90 integra GSR ...it came with this motor.
It is DOHC, no vtec, but is SUPER clean and i have never seen one.
I was wondering if its any good, because i am trying to sell it for him.
Supposedly its 145hp... but i wonder is it any good and what applications would it fit, i have only messed w/ B-series.
I thought all D-series were sohc motors...weird.
Any info would be nice and appreciated.
Thanx

er, FYI, there were no GSR integra's before 1992.

The D16A1 engine is found in the 86-89 integra's. A 1.6L DOHC engine. It's japanese counterpart is known as a (browntop) ZC engine.

Can you take a look at the valvecover and see what color it is, and if it has a 4-bolt valve cover? If the v.cover winds up being a brown 4-bolt v.cover then it's an 86-87 integra engine. If it's a black 4-bolt v.cover then its an 88-89 integra engine.

That is if this is an original motor that hasn't been tampered with. Some people swap the v.covers to the black style cuz it looks better than poopy brown pants.

This motor will bolt into either an 86-89 integra chassis (duh) or an 84-87 civic/crx chassis, providing you have all the useable integra engine mounts, shift linkage, axles, wheel knuckle/hub assembly and ecu.

if its the ZC then its 130bhp not 145 unless its had some work done to it or its ECU, and i think the D16 also made around 130hp
