Default The new Pilot

What is HT.com take on it?

Can someone offer a real world MPG?

Is it "Honda-Like" in terms of SUV?

Will it be a car (I use the word car because it will never see dirt) that one would enjoy driving daily? I will be daily because it will be a family car.

Tell me anything, other than it's not cheap.

Looking at 09 FWD Touring with RES.

TIA

I have an 06 EX-L w/ RES AWD... My family and I absolutely LOVE it!! It's such a comfortable SUV. The seats are plush and soft and have a ton of support, the 3rd row seat is a plus.

As for gas mileage... for the first few tanks we were getting like 19mph... SUCKS!! So this last tank we just put in the Lucas Fuel Treatment and it's acting like we're getting a little better gas mileage. This is only like our 4th fill up.. we just got it, so I'll let you know when the tank is almost empty what you could expect for real gas mileage.

the new pilots are Pimp. I'd wait till the 2010 model. As with every new model it has quite a few issues right now.

I have an 09 EX 4wd and love everything about it. Im getting about 320 miles on a tank full. It does have the vcm wich is great on the highway. Its more of an suv feel for me than my 08. Its bigger and roomier in my opinion, plenty of space. I have an emergency kit, a jump box and tow straps in the hidden compartment behind the third row. 8 people can fit in it. The 60/40 split seats are great to haul stuff. Drive one..plenty of power and torque. A class III hitch is intergrated into the frame. Like I said I had the 08 for 4 months and traded it in for the 09. It serves me quite well. I work at a funeral home so i carry bodies in mine! (Seriously..im not kidding)

I have no personal experience with the new ones except in my dealer's showroom... but FWIW, I don't like the styling redesign. Looks too much like a Nissan now.

I don't like it too. Wife does. I'm hope it will be a slow seller so when we are ready, Honda would want to discount the $40K Touring. A real discount I mean.

What does Pilot owners think about the "off-road" capabilities? First, I know Pilot is NOT a Jeep, it's NOT for off-roading.

Maybe I should say off pavement? Loose dirt? Going to the camp grounds? Potholes on the city streets? Is the Pilot tough in the city streets?

BTW - FWD Pilot.

off pavement does GREAT. no, its not for offroading. but our 03 does great plowing through 1-2 feet of snow every winter, and has never gotton stuck once. handled bumpin over some curbs and snowbanks occasionally, has more then the capability. and definately a LOT more then my mustang.

as for the new one- dear god. too minivan like, its like an H3 and that new crappy jeep got together and had a bastard child. when its time to get another pilot to take the 03 off DD duty, its going to be a 2008.

I see a lot of pilots on the beach playing in the sand. The only issues I've seen are overheated trannies, and that's easily solved with a cooler.
