Anyone here ever put a 2500 RPM activated switch??

My problem is that i just did a swap for a D15b 3 stage vtec, but i dont have the proper ecu for it. and some ppl are telling me to put a rpm switch on the first selenoid and then i will have my 3 stage? is this true?

 

for the vtec-e side, you might get away with it. I don't know what the fuel and timing maps are like for like for vtec-e. My advice is go see someone who chips and tunes and see if you can chip something like an automatic P28 so that the circuitry for the automatic shift solenoid controls the other vtec solenoid. Danny at JD Racing might be able to tell you something.

 

ya i know Danny a bit. I could give him a call. Right now im running the P2P ECU coz my car is a OBD2 d15b 3 stage vtec. its seems like a few ppl did use the RPM switch, but i cant seem to find too much info on wiring it. thats why i was asking.

 

I don't know Danny personally, but i know people that have had their cars tuned by him and they all swear he knows his stuff. People have been using RPM activated switches for vtec for years, but for regular vtec at least it doesn't really work, the high lift cam profile will engage, but the fuel and timing maps don't change so you don't actually make anymore power. Vtec-e is a bit different though, vtec-e keeps one intake valve per cylinder almost completely closed creating a vortex so the fuel burns more efficiantly, but i don't know if the ECU normally alters the fuel and timing maps for this or if its strictly mechanical.
