no its not throwning any codes....im wondering if it could be the vtec selienod but im not sure

 

the vtec solonoid throws a code

 

its a jdm b16 in a 92 hatch

 

no check engine light i'm stumped usualy the factors that make vtec work will throw a code

 

yeah thats what i thought cuz it will work and then ill shift and then it wont so ive been trying to figure it out but ive pretty much hit a dead end and dont know what to do

 

speed sensor?

 

i need a new speed sensor but i dont think that would have anything to do with it i was talking about popping vtec cause ill pop vtec and then ill shift and then i wont pop

 

so vtec comes on you shift then it doesn't?

 

yeah it just works when it wants to and it now throwing any codes or anything so im confused about what it could be

well i can't find my book right now but basicaly vtec works off of like 4 to 5 things working togethor. oil pressure so check your oil, itake air temp (the reason mine went the intake air temp sensor.) the solonoid, coolant sensor and such. um just search for what makes vtec tick and single it out. sounds like oil pressure or you speed sensor

 

sorry i couldn't help ya more got my own stuff right now. my crank seal is leaking oil and i'm trying to find an easy way to get the pulley off

 

my oil pressure is good ... would the speed sensor make it do that?

 

i'm pretty sure it would if its shorting out. i've got a d16z6 and mine didn't work when i forgot to plug it in

 

so your vtec did work when you didnt have you speed sensor pluged in... at least youve given my some pointers on what it could be which is better then nothing
