I have a 93 ninja 500 and the gas cap is probably leaking because I think I got water in the gas when we had some hard rains here and it totally messed my bike up. She ran fin the day before but after the rains started stalling and dieing.

so I'm currently cleaning the carbs and hope that fixes it.

but i need to solve the cap issue but am having trouble finding one. Stock, aftermarket, keyed, keyless I don't care as long it fits and seals nice.

preferribly cheap since the ones I am finding are like 100 bux for a piece of metal.

If I cant find one, I'll tape some plastic garbage bag over the cap to prvent water going inside, but that would be totally ghetto.

 

Bike parts aint cheap. You could try a salvage cycle yard, that would be your cheapest bet. Are you sure the cap is culprit? Seems like water would get through the airbox. Think about how well that garbage bag is gonna do when gas sloshes against it. Gasoline on the crotch or exhuast?

I'd pay estra for a cap that locks, with todays gas prices. 4 gallon tank will get most cars to halfway.
