Rad fan wont come on - not typical cause
I didn't know where else to post this ... everything on this car (1995 Civic EX) is giving me problems!
Can't make the radiator fan come on when the car gets to operating temperature.
So I tried the test to rule out the fan switch which is on the thermostat housing by jumping the two pin connector with the key to "on". The fan still doesn't come on. The relay doesn't click, like it should. hmm..
Fan works when applied directly to battery.
Fuse under dashboard is good.
Fan Relay is good. Tried two different known-good relays.
The switch on the thermostat housing and the bottom right hand pin of the Fan Relay case both have continuity to ECM Pin A12 (like they should).
The Upper Left pin of the Fan Relay case has continuity to 12v, like it should.
The Lower Left pin of the Fan Relay case has continuity to the fan motor, and when jumped to the Upper Left pin of the relay case, the fan comes on.
I tried using a different ECM, but it's still giving me the same problems.
What part of the equation am I missing here?

By jumping the 2 pin harness at the thermostat switch, I am BYPASSING both the thermostat, and the thermostat switch itself.
In doing so, I am making the harness *think* that the thermostat has opened up fully, and that the coolant temperature is hot enough that it should send a signal to the fan to start cooling down the radiator. Only the fan won't come on....
My problem exists beyond the thermostat/temperature switch.

Bypass the wiring harness and make your own wiring and see if the same problem persists.
