Alarm help: How hard is it to remove my 791xv???
it's come time to sell my car, i've taken everything out except the alarm, i've had a local shop quote me 50 bucks to do it...the alarm brain is installed behind the gauge cluster. i was wondering if this is a type of job i can do my self, after all it just involves removing some wires right? let me know h-t, and yes i've searched first..thanks.
It's very easy. However, $50 at a shop is a normal price too. Why do you want to keep your alarm? it may be better to leave it a get a new one. The new responder is very nice compared to the 791.

2. Trace each wire emanating from the brain to its connection point.
3. Cut wire
4. Insulate wire with tape.
Not that complicated. </TD></TR></TABLE>
is this all that's required, because i don't want to cut and splice the wrong wires?

i already paid 150 for the alarm, and rather than pay another 150 for the alarm, might as well take it out, and then do a stealth install in my next car, right?

How are you going to cut a wrong wire if you're tracing it back from the alarm?
The only wire you might have to splice back together is the starter, and that's only if they installed the starter kill relay... But that's pretty self-explanatory as well.
When the alarm was installed, all of the alarm's wiring was "tapped" into existing wiring, or "teed" into... All you're doing is cutting the alarm wire, not the car's wire.

Ok ok LOL, so my only problem would be putting it back in to my next car right?
Edit, there is a starter kill relay too, what do I do about that? Redo the wire like mentioned above?

i got it out, the only thing that confused me was the extreme capacity relay satellite, which i don't even think was included with the alarm, but THANKS HONDA-TECH FOR THE HELP!
