Default 250W AMP + sub? total noob.

When I had my integra I bought a bazooka tube for it. it was one of those 8inch built in amp ones. well i recently sold it and bought a 08 civic LX 4door and when I went to install the tube the quality SUCKED. it was like there was nothing int he trunk at all.

so about a month ago my uncle gave me an amp he had (250W mtx 2channel roadthunder? ) and i gutted my tube of all electrical stuff and wired the tube to the amp. all seems fine and the bass is a lot better now but still not great. I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading to a better box and sub? i'm not sure if 250W is worth powering anything more then the tube since ever where i've read ppl usually don't dip under 300W

sorry if this all sounds really noobish i'm more of an engine person then car audio and this would bet he first time I actually attempt to put any kinda of system in my car.

BTW i'm keeping the stock headunit. and the amp came with a Built in LOC.

it just depends on how much bass u want u could go buy a lil 8inch sub or a 10 and it would proly work better than a bass tube

Well right now at full blast ( head unit bass at +6 and gain on amp all the way up) You can feel a lil thump. comparable to a 5 year old swinging his feet behind you. I'm wondering if changing to a box and woofer will yield anything better? i'm fine with it now but sometimes i'd lke to turn the bass up alil bit more.

Sounds like there may be something wrong here. What do you have driving the input on the tube? Is it tapped off the rear speakers wires or do you have pre-amp outputs (RCA's) running to the amp?

there is LOC built into the Amp so I tapped the rear speakers, and from there I bridged the two channels together and wire it straight to the woofer. i dont think anything is wrong?

is the amp stable at 2ohm bridged? if so pick up a RE audio "re series" of whatever size you want(like 50-60 bux on eGay). throw it in a prefab sealed box(you can get um for like 29 bucks @ wallmart.) and then ull be bumpin with the big dogs.

if you want more bass, then build a proper sub box in the trunk and put the inverter ports to the cabin.. should work good.. check, like i did

If you want more bass, get a speaker thats bigger than 8 inches, build a proper box for it, and put more than 125 rms watts into it. Done.
